Half season later Der Klassiker is back, and the German football world around it has totally changed: Bayern are world champions but only with a two point advantage at the top of the domestic table. Meanwhile, Dortmund went into the undiscovered land of sacking a manager aside falling 13 points behind Bayern and already out of the title race, but with one foot already in the Champions quarters. There are also juicy chances for Leipzig in Freiburg and for Wolfsburg in Hoffenheim.
Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund
Saturday, March 6, 2021 – 12:30 PM EST at Allianz Arena
Just in time for the game worth a season Borussia Dortmund are back. In only this match would have taken place at the beginning of February, Dortmund would still be a band apart, able only to tickle a Bayern going to be crowned world champions in full force. Bayern haven’t change much meanwhile, except the fact that their comfortable gap in the league let them throw points away, thus reviving Leipzig hopes. Instead, Dortmund are reliable, concrete, and threatening again. This is the only non league game where and their target is qualifying to Champions, which is not easy because Wolfsburg and Eintracht turned very serious.
For this game they will give all in spite of being penalized by the scheduling. This places their Champions return leg already on Wednesday while Bayern will have one week more of relax. Not mentioning that Dortmund had their DFB Pokal quarters to play against Monchengladbach on Tuesday, while Bayern again could relax for a week, something unknown during this season.
It is very hard to think about Bayern losing, and this in spite of soccer odds on solely Bayern to win being pretty good on their own, something that possibly happens only 3 or 4 times in Bundesliga across a season. But Dortmund comes from a streak of four wins in a row and five undefeated games, and they didn't have such a thing since October, but in 2019!
Basically, winning in Sevilla made them blossom and now they are confident to put up a fight in Bavaria. The only way they can do it is by seeking the goal, putting pressure and leave a lot of space. An attitude perfectly fitting to Bayern, that actually suffer more when opponents are closing behind but being smart enough to make the most of counters, exploiting the space left behind the back by Bayern midfield. I predict Bayern to win and goals from both of them on cards for our best bets.

Freiburg vs. RB Leipzig
Saturday, March 6, 2021 - 09:30 AM EST at Schwarzwald Stadion
It's 14 months since the last time Leipzig achieved six wins in a row in Bundesliga. Now they are at 5, which is telling about how good they feel (and by the way, their all-time record is only eight, made at their very fantastic debut in the top division in 2017). This overconfidence is possibly what has betrayed them against Liverpool, but now they are breathing on the neck of Bayern on the Klassiker day. If they learned from their mistake, they will know how to handle it as the game deserves with a dangerous but not always reliable Freiburg.
Hoffenheim vs. Wolfsburg
Saturday, March 6, 2021 - 09:30 AM EST at PreZero Arena
Wolfsburg only had two defeats in this season: in Munich and Dortmund, which are places where every team in the world can be defeated without shame. Their third overall participation in the Champions League is a dream made concrete by the third place where they climbed up, with a six point gap over Dortmund. In whole Bundesliga, Hoffenheim possibly is the team with the most ups and downs without continuity. Staying focused will be enough for Wolfsburg.
