Dortmund vs Monchengladbach
Saturday, September 19, 2020 – 12:30 PM EDT at Signal Iduna Park
The German top-flight league is scheduled to kick off this weekend, so we are back in action with weekly parlays and top soccer betting picks. After finishing 2nd last season, 13 points behind leaders Bayern, Dortmund are hoping to get closer in the to the reigning champs in the title hunt.
Despite losing one of their most important players, Achraf Hakimi, who was on loan from Real Madrid Madrid and signed for Inter Milan, Dortmund managed to keep their core but also to bring in some great players like Thomas Meunier (free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain) and Jude Bellingham from Birmingham.
The 17-year old central midfielder, Jude Bellingham already became the youngest goalscorer in the 110-year history of Dortmund. The German scouts are just brilliant. The fact that Jadon Sancho and Bellingham weren’t getting the deserved attention in their country says everything about the German football culture and scouting ethics.
Jadon Sancho made his 100th appearance in all competitions for Dortmund in the Cup game against Duisburg. Marco Reus has finally made his competitive comeback from injury and scored in the 5-0 win. Erling Haaland kicked off the season with 2 great games for his national team. He scored 3 brilliant goals in 2 matches for Norway against Austria and Northern Ireland. He is determined to win the Bundesliga Golden Boot and start the domestic campaign with a goal.
On the other side, Gladbach are one of the top teams in the Bundesliga. They finished 4th last season, 4 points behind Dortmund, which means they will play in the Champions League this season. They are still looking to bring in some new players as the transfer window will shut down in about 3 weeks.
Gladbach are one of Dortmund’s favorite opponent. The hosts are going the 12th consecutive win against Gladbach. It’s important to note that a limited number of fans will be allowed in the stands, which is very important for the soccer teams.
The “yellow wall” won’t be there for Dortmund but the difference in quality between them and Gladbach will definitely be there. We expect a home win in the most exciting match on the round.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Arminia Bielefeld
Saturday, September 19, 2020 - 09:30 AM EDT at Commerzbank-Arena
Eintracht Frankfurt will welcome Arminia Bielefeld at Commerzbank-Arena on Saturday. The hosts failed to impress last season mostly because many of their important players left the club and their new signings needed time to adapt.
They did not make too many changes to the squad, but they managed to buy Andre Silva completing his permanent move from AC Milan. The team’s chemistry should be better this season as the players managed to gel during the last matches of the season.
On the other side, Arminia Bielefeld are back in the Bundesliga after an 11-year absence from the top-flight league. It will be very tough for them to keep their spot for more than 1 season as they lack Bundesliga experience and their transfer budget is limited.
We expect them to have a defensive approach in all their away matches and try to push for points on their turf. All the new players are free transfers from teams like SCR Altach from Austria, Odense from Denmark, or Swansea from the English Championship. Their only notable transfer (on loan) is Sergio Cordova from Augsburg but it’s good to note that he missed many games last year with injuries, so we don’t know how fit he is.
We expect Eintracht to kick off their season with a home win and the price for that is very good.
