Caitlyn Jenner, of the famous reality TV Kardashian clan, has thrown down the gauntlet, announcing her bid for California governor. For several weeks now, the buzz about Jenner’s potential candidacy bubbled under the surface until it finally burst out into the open. To be finally confirmed by Jenner herself in a press release posted to Twitter on Friday, April 23rd. The same day Jenner’s campaign website went live.
Not surprisingly, sports betting sites are all over this latest newsflash. They’ve universally taken stock of Jenner’s chances and instantly instated her as a viable contender and the second-best bet after incumbent Democratic governor Gavin Newsom. As
Caitlyn Jenner made the announcement after reportedly getting all her ducks in a row and filing the relevant paperwork necessary to run for the state’s high office.
The former Olympian, Reality TV star
In the statement issued on social media, Jenner warns Californians “we face a now-or-never opportunity to fundamentally fix our state before it’s too late.”
Referring to herself as a “compassionate disrupter” and a “proven winner” she positions herself as a viable saviour. Jenner isn’t native to California, but she’s called the state her home for more than 50 years. And it is so, as the so-called “outsider” that she claims she is the best person to defeat governor Newsom.
“Californians want better and deserve better from the governor,” the statement from Jenner reads. “For too long, career politicians have over-promised and under-delivered. We need a leader with the vision and resolve to see it through.” Jenner promises her campaign will be one of “solutions” and focused planning via “a roadmap back to prosperity to turn this state around.”
Taking umbrage with governor Newsom specifically in the statement, Jenner claims “This isn’t the California we know This is Gavin Newsom’s California, where he orders us to stay home but goes out to dinner with his lobbyist friends.”
Hollywood superstar and former governor Schwarzenegger weighed in on Jenner’s bid recently during an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! Seemingly endorsing Jenner’s odds to triumph too.”Anyone has a chance because I think the people are dissatisfied with what is going on here in California,” Schwarzenegger began. “And I hope as many people as possible are jumping into the race.”
The Austrian-born Schwarzenegger, not unlike Jenner, is the epitome of an “outsider” whose path to political power in the United States was unconventional, to say the least. So, whether Jenner actually goes through with the campaign to give Newsom and other potential candidates a run for their money remains to be seen. But bettors can certainly bet on it if they so choose to at any number of top-rated sports betting sites.
