Is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a viable bet in the race for the 2024 U.S. Presidential elections? Well, according to various online sportsbooks, the U.S. Representative from New York’s 14th congressional district is a politician to watch over the course of the next three-and-a-half years in the lead up to the next general election.

As per BetOnline Sportsbook’s early U.S. 2024 Presidential Election odds (see below), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the third best bet after the tandem of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden to clinch the next Democratic nomination.

Of course, Harris and Biden are considerably favoured respectively in the early odds market – Harris leads the charge at +150 while Biden nips at her heels at +176 – but Ocasio-Cortez, although priced at a good distance off at +1200, is increasingly gaining in popularity amongst bettors.

Speaking to Forbes, David Mason of revealed already back in November 2020 that Ocasio-Cortez was amongst the most bet up politicians in early betting markets.

“Naturally, odds for the next election cycle almost always favor the opponent, in this case Joe Biden, or the current Vice President,” said Mason to Forbes at the time. “But while the 2024 Presidential Election odds list Kamala Harris as the most probable option, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is getting the most love from early bettors.”

Given just how early it was in the political cycle, with the Biden-Harris administration barely even off the ground, it’s an interesting development to have materialised at the time, to say the least.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Calls For Cuomo Resignation

Most recently, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made headlines as one of several prominent Democratic politicians to call for New York Governor Cuomo’s resignation in the wake of misconduct allegations and mounting sexual harassment cases against the embattled governor.

Ocasio-Cortez, along with Representatives Jerry Nadler and Jamaal Bowman, called on Cuomo to resign publicly. A joint statement was released to that effect, which Ocasio-Cortez shared on social media.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, The Trailblazer

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a wonderment on the political landscape, defying the political odds in magnificent fashion while running her first-ever political race at the age of 28. Women like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are phenoms that are few and far in-between. Coming out of nowhere and having never held office, few expected the 28 year-old political hopeful, who was still paying off student loans, to pull off the triumph she did when she burst onto the New York political scene and beat Representative Joseph Crowley, a 19-year incumbent.

And yet, she accomplished the feat to the chagrin and delight of her fans and supporters. Ocasio-Cortez represents the Democratic Party’s future and the diversity of American culture. The daughter of Puerto Rican immigrants to the United States, she’s the quintessential success story that epitomises living the American dream.

Following Ocasio-Cortez’s unlikely rise to power just over two years ago, she became the most talked about politician after Donald Trump at the time. She made the cover of Time Magazine, her twitter following exploded from under 50,000 to over 3.5 million followers in the blink of an eye, and her signature red lipstick, which she identified as Beso, by Stila, sold out online as soon as she made the revelation.

Importantly, Ocasio-Cortez continues to garner political attention, which is translating to pretty significant political clout as far as the betting goes for the 2024 US Elections. That said, only time will tell whether she’s the real deal and a viable political pick to bet on.
