Our NHL handicapper takes interest on Minnesota Wild vs. Boston Bruins game on Thursday night. Check what he has to say about his NHL pick inside this revealing article.

Minnesota Gets Malkin-ed in Loss to Pittsburgh
The Minnesota Wild went into Pittsburgh and fought hard in their 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh. They might have won the game had it not been for the Pens Evgeny Malkin, who scored two goals and had two assists in the game. His two goals were in the second period and pretty much put the game out of reach as Pittsburgh had a 4-1 lead at that point. Minnesota did get goals by Jared Spurgeon and Mikko Koivu to make the final more respectable, but they could get no closer.

Taking the loss in the game was Devan Dubnyk, who is now 10-6 with a 2.54 GAA on the year. He should get the start in this one as, but then again maybe not as he is 0-4 with a 5.56 GAA in his career vs Boston. Minnesota has been a strong offensive team this year as they come in ranked 6th in the league in scoring at 3.0 gpg, but they have not been a strong team on defense, where they have allowed 2.8 gpg (20th) and are 29th in the league.

Tukkaa Rask Struggles Again in Loss to the Sharks
The Boston Bruins have had little trouble in scoring this year, but stopping the puck from going in the net has been an issue for them and the root of the problem has been the struggles of Tuukka Rask. In the loss to San Jose he allowed five goals in the game, which was the 5th time this year that he has allowed a least five goals in a game and the 9th time that he allowed at least three goals in a game. Rask is now 5-8 with a 3.18 GAA on the year and vs the Wild he has gone 2-3 with a 2.14 GAA in his career.

Boston is 26th in the league in goals allowed (3.2 gpg) and are also dead last in penalty kill. As I stated above, the Bruins have had little trouble in putting the puck in the net this year as they come in ranked third in the league in scoring at 3.3 gpg and they also have the top power play unit in the league. This is a team that has had many overs this year as they have been all offense and no defense. Makes for exciting hockey though.

Minnesota: The Over is 8-2-6 in their last 16 road games & Over is 2-0-2 their last four meetings with Boston

Boston:The Over is 8-1-2 in their last 11 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game & Over is 16-6-5 in Bruins last 27 vs. Western Conference

On paper this one looks really easy as we have two teams that can score a lot facing off of some struggling goaltending. I so hope that Boston plays Rask in this one as then it could be game of the year material on the over. Rask has a 3.18 GAA on the year and Dubnyk has a 5.56 GAA in his career vs Boston and those two goalies will square off against two of the top six offenses in the league. Let’s also note that these are two of the worst penalty killing teams in the league and Boston has the top power play, while Minnesota’s is rather average. special teams should net a few goals in this one. I really can’t see how we don’t get at the very least seven goals tonight at the TD Garden. Make Over the NHL pick tonight against the NHL odds
