Chicago Blackhawks take on the Minnesota Wild in Tuesday’s round of NHL betting. Find out what NHL odds are trading and where the value NHL picks are to be had.

Chicago Blackhawks (44-25-7)
The Chicago Blackhawks are gunning for a second straight Stanley Cup, a fourth in the last seven years. On Sunday night, the Blackhawks took a concentrated step towards that goal when they handed the Vancouver Canucks a 3-2 loss at Rogers Arena. In so doing, they clinched a spot in the playoffs, and, on a lesser note, handed the Canucks a cringing eighth straight loss.

Chicago Blackhawks boast a 44-25-7 mark on the season and 95 points. As it is, they are third in the Central division behind the Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues (both level on 99 points at the time of writing). On the road, the Blackhawks boast a solid 20-14-4 mark. In recent weeks though they’ve been so-so with a 4-4-2 record in their last ten games.

Auspiciously, they are riding a two-game winning streak into Tuesday’s clash with playoff hopefuls Minnesota Wild having beaten Canadian outfits Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks in succession on the road. They’ll be looking to make it three in a row in Minnesota before wrapping up a four-game road trip in Winnipeg.

Since losing to the Dallas Stars on March 11 on the road, the Blackhawks have reeled off three road wins in a row. Home form has been their downfall with losses to Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Minnesota and Dallas. There are no easy spots in the schedule though as the season winds down and that was a tough home stretch by all accounts.

Minnesota Wild (37-28-11)
The Minnesota Wild took a major step towards the playoffs with a 4-0 shutout over Colorado Avalanche on the road in Saturday’s round of NHL betting. The win has the Wild improving to 6-3-1 in their last ten games, a mark highlighted by a five-game winning streak ahead of their date with the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday’s round of NHL betting.

It’s down to the wire right now as teams vie for a spot in the playoffs and, arguably, the Wild are answering the question at the time of asking with an exclamation point. They mean business and they’re delivering on expectations in no uncertain terms. They have a five-point edge over the Avalanche in the standings and trail Nashville Predators by six points, albeit the pair have a game in hand which means it’s imperative the Wild continue winning out.

They’ll look to make it six in a row when they take on the defending champions at home on Tuesday night and if their head-to-head record were any indication their chances look very good. The Wild have Chicago’s number this season having beaten the defending champions in four previous meetings. A win on Tuesday will mark a sweep of the series.

They opened the series with a 5-4 win at home in October and followed up with a 2-1 win in the windy city in December. Most recently, they crushed the Blackhawks 6-1 in Minnesota in February and then edged the Blackhawks in a 3-2 shootout win in Chicago a week ago.

At home, the Wild are enjoying a three-game winning streak comprised of wins over Carolina, Los Angeles and Calgary, outscoring the triplet 11-5. Their last home loss was a 2-1 loss to Edmonton on March 10.

NHL Betting Verdict
As it is, early odds are already trading on the NHL odds board with the Wild favoured but only just at -123 at BetOnline and up to -130 at Bookmaker. Given the Wild’s current form and head-to-head edge over the Blackhawks that’s a decent price to consider putting up on your NHL picks. Of course, the defending champions are dangerous floaters and can never be taken for granted, even at their slightly disadvantaged +110 NHL odds or thereabouts. However, consider they have already clinched a playoff spot so the pressure is slightly off of them while the Wild are still in the hunt for a postseason playing card.
