Tonight's betting card offers us some NHL picks including on a double-header on the NBCSN including two potential playoff series previews: Hawks/Rangers, Blue Jackets/Oilers & Kings/Ducks.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. New York Rangers
Both teams are playing pretty well but the Rangers are definitely on another level. They have only lost once in regulation in their last 17 games and enter Wednesday’s affair on a five-game winning streak. They’ve allowed just three goals in those five games, one of which was a 1-0 shutout win over the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks find themselves in a back-to-back situation after playing the Islanders last night and while I’d like to take a shot with them for today's NHL picks, but under seems to make more sense. None of the Rangers last six games have hit five goals and we’ll look for more of the same in their matchup with Chicago on Wednesday.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Edmonton Oilers
Columbus and Edmonton are two of the worst teams in the NHL. There’s no way I can lay juice with the Blue Jackets in this spot considering they just lost at home to the Carolina Hurricanes as a -140 favorite. They had won three straight before that – including a 5-4 shootout win over the Edmonton Oilers – but this is still not a good team. They have allowed at least three goals in a game six times this month and are allowing an average of 3.5 goals allowed per game in their last 13.

As for Edmonton, they’re coming off a win over the Toronto Maple Leafs but it’s hard to trust Edmonton to do anything right. That was their first win in eight games. That being the case, I would rather take a shot with betting over the NHL odds total The Oilers have also had all sorts of problems in net as they’ve allowed 31 goals in their last seven games. Also, five straight meetings between the sides have gone over, so I’ll bank on that happening here once more.

NHL Pick: Over 5.5 at The Greek

Los Angeles Kings vs. Anaheim Ducks
I’m going to take a shot with the Kings here in this spot because they’re a road dog here and they might in fact be the better team right now. Anaheim has won two straight but prior to that, had dropped three in a row. They’re having some issues in net deciding who their starter should be: John Gibson or Frederik Andersen. Andersen had been the man all year but injuries may have cost him his job. He’s allowed 22 goals in his last seven outings, which isn’t going to cut it. As for Gibson, he’s played well in spurts. He’s allowed two goals or less in six of his last seven starts, but he gave up six goals in the other outing.

The Kings have won five of seven with the only two losses being one-goal shortcomings to Pittsburgh and Nashville. Their goaltender, Jonathan Quick, has been outstanding, giving up just five goals in his last five outings. Under might be a good choice here too but I like the Kings as a road dog.
