Under is the theme of the night for our Wednesday picks. We’ve lined up three games from the five-game card and are expect some low-scoring contests.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Both teams are streaking coming into this one as the Blackhawks have won three straight and six of seven at home while the Habs have won 10 of 12.

Picking a side might be tricky, so I’ll go under with my hockey picks. Under has cashed in 13 of the Blackhawks last 20 against teams with a winning record and it’s 16-6 when the Habs scored four goals or more in their previous game. I’m expecting a low-scoring affair in this one.

Hockey Pick: Under 5.5 at Bodog

Los Angeles Kings vs. Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames have flipped the switch and become a reasonable defensive team. The under has cashed four straight times for them as they’ve allowed just two goals in their last three games. They should have a good chance to keep things tight on Wednesday when the Kings visit as the Kings average just 2.28 goals per game on the road, which is 26th in the NHL.

Eight of the last nine meetings between the teams have played under, so I’ll bank on that with my NHL picks.

Hockey Pick: Under 5 at Bovada

Detroit Red Wings vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
Although the Pens have been one of the highest scoring teams in the NHL over the last few years (and this year), they’re having a tough time these days. That’s translated into much lower-scoring games for them as eight of their last nine games have stayed under 5.5 on the hockey odds board. I’ll look for that streak to continue one more night when the Red Wings visit. The under is also 16-7 after the Pens play a non-conference game.

Hockey Pick: Under 5.5 at 5Dimes
