Do you want to know more NHL betting information on the game today between the Flyers and Rangers? Then read this insightful NHL betting preview article on that very contest, and it includes a free pick against the money line.

Rematch of 2014 Stanley Cup Playoff Series
The Rangers will host the Flyers on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden in New York with the opening puck drop slated for 7:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at Bookmaker, the Rangers are a -140 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. This will be the first meeting of the season between these Metropolitan Division rivals. They last met in the 2014 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series in which the Rangers won in 7-games. They also met in 4 regular season games during the 2013-2014 campaign, and each team won twice, and the home team skated away victorious on each occasion. The Rangers have dominated the Flyers at home the past 3-seasons, going 7-1 versus their division rival at Madison Square Garden.

Another Slow Start
The Philadelphia Flyers have become accustomed to slow starts the last 2-seasons. Last year’s team got off to a dismal 1-7 start, and then rebounded to ultimately qualifying for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This year’s club enters today’s game with an unimpressive 7-9 money line record, and started the season by losing each of their first 4-games. The Flyers have seen just 5 of their 16-games stay under the total, and have gone over the number in each of their previous 3-games. They’re averaging a stellar 3.2 goals per game, but unfortunately are allowing 3.3 goals per contest as well. Defensively they’ve been even worse on the road, allowing an average of 3.7 goals per outing in 7 away tilts. The Flyers are coming off a 6-3 loss at Montreal, and it was their 2nd consecutive loss.  Philadelphia has gone a dismal 0-8 the last 2-seasons following a game where there were 9-goals or more combined scored.

Reeling Rangers
The New York Rangers are the defending Eastern Conference champions but you would never know it the way they played recently. They enter today with an underachieving 7-11 money line record. Their last outing was on Monday in an embarrassing 5-1 home defeat at the hands of Tampa Bay. The loss was their 3rd in a row, and the 5th in the last 6-games. If you’re looking to identify a specific reason for “The Blue Shirts” slow start, then all you have to do is look at is their play on special teams. The Rangers have converted only 14.3% of their power play chances, and have allowed opponents to cash in on 20.3% of their man advantage opportunities.

Final Analysis
As I alluded to earlier, the Rangers are losers of their last three, and the Flyers have dropped two in a row. The combination of these two losing streaks sets up a very profitable betting system which has withstood the test of time. I’m going to use that wagering edge when making my NHL picks for today.

Any money line favorite that’s lost 3 or more games in a row, versus an opponent which has lost 2 or more games in a row, has gone 281-124 (69.4%) since 1996.
