We’ve got a small menu from to choose from for our NHL picks on Wednesday. There are just four games on the ice. Three previews are below and we’ve got the Phoenix-Los Angeles game separated off.

New York Islanders vs. Ottawa Senators
I can’t bring myself to take either side with my NHL picks here. On one hand, you’ve got the Islanders, who are the second-worst team in the NHL but has actually won but has actually won six of nine. Meanwhile, you’ve got a Sens team that’s won three of four but had lost six straight before that. They’re also likely to be without Jason Spezza as well and are laying way too much juice for my liking.

I’m going to take the over here as these two teams rank in the top three of goals allowed.

Hockey Pick: Over 5.5 at Bovada

Boston Bruins vs. Detroit Red Wings
The Bruins are the hottest team in the NHL these days with 15 wins in their last 16. They’re playing with tons of confidence at both ends of the ice and it’ll be tough for the Red Wings to stop them. Detroit would have a tough time if they were at full strength; with them being shorthanded, without the services of Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, I’ll bet the Bruins.

Hockey Pick: Bruins -125 at BetMarathon

Edmonton Oilers vs. Anaheim Ducks
It’s no surprise here that Anaheim is favored massively here (nearly -300 on the NHL odds) as the Oilers are absolutely pathetic. They’ve now lost four of five by a combined score of 24-8. Oddly enough, their one win in that stretch was against Anaheim.

The Oilers are in a back-to-back after playing in San Jose the night before and it’s their third game in four night. I want nothing to do with them.

Hockey Pick: Ducks -1.5 +110 at Bodog
