Monday’s card features just four games in the NHL but the theme of the night is big favorites. Three of the four games feature a team that’s listed at -175 or higher on the NHL odds. Here’s our picks for the night:

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Ottawa Senators
Barring an absolute miracle, both Carolina and Ottawa are out as far as the Eastern Conference playoffs go. Both have 74 points and both are playing fairly poorly right now. This is really just a coin toss matchup, so I’ll take a shot with the dog here. Carolina has won three of four on the road while Ottawa has lost six of seven at home.

Hockey Pick: Hurricanes +110 at 5Dimes

Florida Panthers vs. New Jersey Devils
The Devils need this game more than the Panthers because New Jersey is trying to climb into a playoff spot. They are five points out. However, they are playing poorly these days with losses in six of eight and definitely aren’t worth the investment on the NHL odds here.

Instead, I’ll look to the under as the Devils have scored just 1.9 goals per game over their last eight while the Panthers have just six goals in their last seven.

Hockey Pick: Under 5 at Bodog

Winnipeg Jets vs. Anaheim Ducks
The Jets have all but tapped out on the season and are not even worth considering for your NHL picks these days – even if they’ve won five of six against Anaheim. We’re talking about a Jets team that’s dropped 10 of their last 13 games overall.

I’ll take the over in this one as the Jets are having a real tough time keeping their opponents from scoring. They’ve allowed three goals or more in 11 of their last 13. Anaheim should do most of the legwork here and get us over the number for our sports picks.

Hockey Pick: Over 5.5 at Bovada
