Monday is a bit of an ugly day for hockey betting as five of the six games feature a favorite of -150 or more. However, I’m not sure that many of these favorites warrant the pricing. Let’s have a look at the card and see what we come up with for our hockey picks.

Phoenix Coyotes vs. New York Rangers
I’m not sure about the Rangers laying -160 here considering the Coyotes have won seven of 10 while the Rangers have lost three of their last four home games. This matchup is more of a coin toss than you might think.

Instead, I’ll go with the under as both goaltenders are hot right now. Mike Smith has a 2.18 GAA and .924 save percentage this month while Henrik Lundqvist has allowed just 13 goals in his last eight games.

Ottawa Senators vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
Over looks like the logical play in this one – even though we’re facing with a high total of six. Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop, who was acquired from Ottawa last season, has been a Vezina Trophy contender throughout most of the season but March has been his worst month by far. He has a 2.87 GAA this month with a .904 save percentage. Seven of the last eight Lightning games have seen at least a combined seven goals. As for the Sens, they’ve hit the wall with losses in six straight. They’ve allowed 4.2 goals per game over their last nine.

NHL Pick: Over 6 at Matchbook

San Jose Sharks vs. Calgary Flames
This is another line where it’s tough to lay the juice with the favorite. The Flames have won four of six while San Jose has dropped two of three. They’ve cost bettors a pretty penny in each of those games on the NHL odds.

I like the under in this spot as the Flames are allowing just 2.28 goals over their last 14 while the Sharks have allowed 24 goals in their last 11 games (2.18). I’ll go with the under for my hockey picks.

NHL Pick: Under 5.5 at 5Dimes
