The Toronto Maple Leafs have turned their season around with a three-game winning streak after a slow start, and those winning ways will continue against the sluggish Kings on Tuesday. The Leafs are small +104 underdogs on NHL odds.

Season High In Units Won

Once again, my NHL followers have hit a new plateau for units won with an easy 'under' in Monday's Panthers-Lightning battle won by Florida 3-1. The bet was never in doubt as we have now moved our units won to +12.63, a season high. A great start but it's a long season so slow and steady as we move into the second week of November.

Tonight's NHL card offers our first -300 favorite as the New York Rangers are as high as -315 at some of SBR's best sportsbooks.  It always amazes me how the public thinks this is their best option as the Rangers have been pounded up from an opening number of -280 on NHL odds. Is it really worth that big of a risk for a low return with Antti Raanta likely in goal vs. Vancouver? Not to us.

The most-wagered game on the board is New Jersey as 80 percent the wagers have been on the Devils vs. Carolina. A play against the Devils was almost my official play as our numbers indicate a closer game than most expect, but I'm choosing to lay off because Cory Schneider could easily pitch a shutout.

Within our guidlines there are only four games to choose from but one sticks out as the Kings Kings travel to surgning Toronto. The Kings are coming off a 5-0 win over Calgary on Saturday, which might propel the public into financially supporting the Kings.

It very easy to cover up inner turmoil when you have guys like star goalie Jonathan Quick, but Quick was hurt in the season opener (out a few more months) and suddenly the Kings aren't as reliable of a bet as they once were.

The Leafs have won three straight by a combined score of 11-4.  It wasn't against the NHL elite,  but when you aren't considered an elite team yourself, every win is a positive. There seems to be a new energy with Toronto, and although the Leafs aren't good enough to creep into my Top 10 there is little doubt they are one of the most exciting teams in the league right now. The Leafs are starting to take to Coach Mike Babcock's system, and when they find way defensively the Leafs are going to be a force in the Eastern Conference.

On the flip side I have the Kings ranked 16th in my power rankings mostly because when I think of inconsistency, Los Angeles is one of the first teams that comes to mind.
