I have two NHL teams that I deem to be overvalued in terms of their current Stanley Cup future odds. Read my article pertaining to this subject in order to find out my specific reasons as to why.

Stanley Cup Futures Overvalued Teams
In this article I’ll be looking at two teams that I deem to be overvalued in regards to their current Stanley Cup futures odds. My opinions on these clubs solely reflect their current performance level compared to their present odds. In order to make myself clear, these opinions don’t reflect whether I think either of these teams can become one of my favorites to win the Stanley Cup in April, they’re based solely on pure betting value at the time of this writing.

The Los Angeles Kings
The consensus at the major sportsbooks shows the Kings currently listed at +1400 on the NHL odds to win the Stanley Cup. That makes them the 8th best favorite to capture hockey’s most prized possession. Let me put these odds into perspective. If the season were to end today, the Kings wouldn’t even qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Yet, their current odds are exactly the same as the Pittsburgh Penguins, Montreal Canadiens, and St. Louis Blues. The books also see the Kings as more of a favorite than five teams that currently hold down one of top eight spots in their conference. If you’ve followed the NHL with any type of regularity, then you’re well aware of the Kings tendency in recent years to coast through the regular season, and then proceed to turn it on in the playoffs. However, at this moment, their current odds don’t correlate to their performance level.

The Boston Bruins
If you’ve read any of my past NHL preview articles at SBR's NHL Picks, you may consider my reference to the Bruins being an overvalued team as contradictory. After all, I have indicated on several occasions that I liked the Bruins as one of my favorites to represent the Eastern Conference in the Stanley Cup Finals. I haven’t yet conceited to that being out of the realm of possibility. However, at odds of +1200 to win the Stanley Cup, there are several teams that would provide you with more betting value. The Bruins are presently holding down the final playoff position in the Eastern Conference. They have a 7-point lead over 9th place Florida, and the Panthers have the luxury of possessing four games in hand. They’re current playoff position is quite tenuous, and isn’t reflective of a team that’s the 5th best favorite on the entire board.
