There’s a lot of action on the ice tonight with 10 games and 20 teams to pick from. We’ve narrowed down our favorite NHL picks to the following three:

Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars
Odds: Stars -130
The Winnipeg Jets have been scoring goals in bunches recently, so we’re going to look for an over in their matchup with Dallas on Thursday. The Jets have scored a whopping 17 goals in their last three games, which is quite impressive. They shouldn’t have too many problems scoring against a Dallas team that gives up 3.29 per game (third-worst in the NHL) and has allowed four or more in four of their last five. We’ll probably see Kari Lehtonen between the pipes for Dallas but he’s got a 3.59 GAA and .874 save percentage this month, so he should help our cause.

While the Stars give up a lot of goals, they’re offense should contribute as they average the fourth-most goals per game at 3.07. That number jumps up to 3.30 when they’re at home. With those numbers in mind, take the over.

NHL Pick: Over 5.5 at The Greek

Calgary Flames vs. Arizona Coyotes
Odds: Arizona -105
The Flames have won all three of their matchups with the Coyotes this season and there’s a good chance they add to that on Thursday. The Coyotes are once again struggling as they enter Thursday having lost four of six. That includes losing three of their last four at home where they are a paltry 9-14 on the season. The main issue is the Coyotes are giving up goals in bunches as the 3.26 that they’re allowing is the worst in the league this month. It’s not going to get better as they are starting to break the team down for parts. Goaltender Devan Dubnyk was traded to Minnesota on Wednesday and if you’ve followed the Coyotes this season, you know he’s been their best man between the pipes. Mike Smith has been a mess, going 7-17-2 with a 3.52 GAA and .885 save percentage. Those numbers are even worse over the last two months as he’s got a 4.35 GAA in December and a 3.75 GAA in January.

The Flames have lost three of four but should be able to get the job done here. The Coyotes are simply a mess, so careful when looking over the NHL odds.

NHL Pick: Flames -105 at 5Dimes

Colorado Avalanche vs. Florida Panthers
Odds: Panthers -135
The Avalanche have experienced a power outage as they have scored a total of three goals in the first two games of their five-game road trip. That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise as the Avs are one of the lowest scoring road teams in the NHL these days. They have averaged just 1.95 goals per game on the road, which is the third-worst number in the league. Roberto Luongo was bombed in his latest outing, an 8-2 loss to Winnipeg, but had entered that game 8-1-1 with a 1.91 GAA in his previous 11 outings. He plays pretty well against Colorado, winning 13 of his last 15 starts against them while posting a 2.05 GAA. The Avs should counter with Semyon Varlamov, who got the night off on Tuesday. He’s played well recently, winning three of four while posting a .959 save percentage and 1.77 GAA in that span.

Adding all of that up and it looks like under is the best choice for our NHL picks here.
