Our NHL consultant shares his 2 top totals in Wednesday’s games between the Blackhawks/Rangers and Blue Jackets/Oilers. Find inside this betting preview article his free NHL picks.

Blackhawks invade Madison Square Garden on Wednesday
The New York Rangers will host the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday at 8:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at Bookmaker, the posted total in this game is 5.0. This will be the second meeting of the season between these “Original Six” members. The Rangers were a 1-0 winner at the United Center in Chicago just ten days ago. Since the start of the 2013-2014 NHL campaign, the Rangers have won all three encounters in this head-to-head series, and each of those games stayed under the total.

He’s a Darling in Goal for the Hawks
The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off a 4-1 win last night versus the New York Islanders. Chicago has seen ten of eleven games go under the total this season when they’re playing with no rest. Cory Crawford was in goal for Tuesday’s win, and he’ll be afforded a night off on Wednesday. Scott Darling will get the call, and he’s been terrific in a backup role for the Hawks. Darling has seen just one of his nine starts this season go over the total, and he’s posted an outstanding .930 save percentage in those outings. Chicago has gone under the total in four of the last five, and six of their previous eight games overall. The Blackhawks have gone over the total in just nine of their thirty-three (27.2%) road games this season.

The Great Wall of New York
The New York Rangers have gone under the total in each of their previous seven games. During that time, they’ve allowed less than one goal (0.86) per contest. Cameron Talbot will be in goal tonight, and he’s been sensational over his previous four starts, compiling an off the charts .976 save percentage, and posting one shutout. The Rangers have also scored just two goals or less in each of their last six games.

Free NHL Pick: Play on the Blackhawks to go Under the total of 5.0 at Bookmaker.

Recent Meetings provide High Entertainment Value
The Edmonton Oilers entertain the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday at 10:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at Heritage, the posted total in this game is 5.5. This will be the second meeting of the season between these teams, and Columbus was a 5-4 winner at home versus Edmonton this past Friday. Since 3/5/2013, the five encounters between these clubs have all gone over the total, and there was an average of 7.8 goals combined scored per game.

Scoring Spree and Defensive Nightmares for Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers have gone over the total in four of their previous five games, and have scored exactly four goals on all but one of those occasions. Edmonton has also allowed a lofty average of 4.8 goals per game during those previous five contests. As a matter of fact, the Oilers have allowed five goals or more in four of the last five, and five of their previous seven games.

Jackets Offensive Juices flow on the Road
The Columbus Blue Jackets have managed to score three goals or more in each of their previous five games on the road. Columbus has also allowed an unimpressive 3.2 goals per game this season. During their previous five games, Columbus has allowed opponents to score a whopping nine goals on the power play. The game tonight versus Edmonton has all the ear marks of a high scoring affair, and my NHL picks on Wednesday will be reflective of just that assumption.
