The Saturday NHL betting card starts early with a 3:00 PM ET tilt between the New York Rangers and Nashville Predators. We’ve got a pick on that game as well as a two others from the 11-game menu.

New York Rangers vs. Nashville Predators
Odds: Predators -145
The Rangers have lost goaltender Henrik Lundqvist for a prolonged period of time, so they’re going to have to find a different way to win hockey games. They’re 25-11-3 when he’s in net this season and are just 5-5 in their other 10 games. While the snap-judge reaction might be to bet the over in Rangers games with Lundqvist out, backup goaltender Cam Talbot is fairly serviceable. He has a 2.14 GAA and .924 save percentage this season. Moreover, only one of Talbot’s last eight starts have seen more than five goals as the Rangers have played tight defense around him. They know they have to protect better when their backup is in net.

As for the Predators, they got their star netminder Pekka Rinne back between the pipes on Thursday as he returned from injury. However, he was quite rusty and the Predators lost 5-2, so keep this in mind when looking over the NHL odds. Rinne gave up four goals in the outing but the good news is that each time he’s given up four goals or more this season (five times), he’s allowed two or less the following game. With that in mind, we’ll go under the number in this spot.

NHL Pick: Under 5 at The Greek

Edmonton Oilers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Odds: Maple Leafs -160
You’d have to be pretty crazy to be laying -160 with the Maple Leafs these days. Yes, there’s a very good chance they beat the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday as many times this season, Edmonton has barely qualified as a professional hockey team. However, at this point in time, there is no way you can lay this number with Toronto. After losing on Friday night, they have now lost 11 straight and 19 of their last 22. During this 11-game losing streak, they have scored just 11 goals and have been absolutely awful between the pipes as well. They have allowed three goals or more in eight of their last 10.

As for the Oilers, they’re a bad team but they’ve at least had a pulse of late. They have gone 4-3 in their last seven games. This game should basically be a PICK but with the Leafs laying this much juice, take a shot with the Oilers.

NHL Pick: Oilers +150 at 5Dimes

Detroit Red Wings vs. Arizona Coyotes
Odds: Red Wings -160
The Red Wings continue to roll on as they’ve now won eight of their last nine games. Their offense has been lighting the lamp aplenty as they’ve scored three goals or more in every single one of those wins. And goaltender Petr Mrazek has been playing well, giving up just one goal in his last two outings.

The Coyotes are not a very strong home team as they’ve won just nine of their 16 at home. They are a horrible defensive team, giving up 3.23 goals per game. That figures to be a problem against a red-hot offense like Detroit’s.
