San Jose Sharks vs. Florida Panthers
I’m going to take a shot with the Panthers with my NHL picks in this one as the Sharks are a dicey bet on the road. San Jose has lost eight of their last 12 away games, yet is laying -160 on the NHL odds against a Panthers team that’s been playing pretty well at home recently. The Panthers are 3-0-1 in their last four at the BB&T Center.
This isn’t as big of a mismatch as you might think. The Panthers are 11-5-2 in their last 18 while the Sharks are 10-9-1 in their last 20.
NHL Pick: Panthers +140 at Bovada
Edmonton Oilers vs. Minnesota Wild
I’m going to take a shot with the over in this one. This will be the first game for the Oilers after trading away goaltender Devan Dubnyk and while it’s not a back-breaking move for a team that’s last in the West, it’s not ideal when you consider the alternative: Ilya Bryzgalov. Bryzgalov has a 3.27 GAA and a .902 save percentage in 14 games as the Oilers main man. He’s allowed at least three goals in six of his last seven starts, so I think he’ll do his fair share to get us above the number. Take the over with your NHL picks.

We’ll see if the Jets coaching change provided temporary relief or whether this is in fact a change in the right direction. In the Jets first game under Paul Maurice, they pounded the Phoenix Coyotes 5-1. Now they’ll head out on the road to face another struggling team that’s very beatable. The Flames have dropped 12 of their last 15 games and have lost six straight at home. The Jets are worth a look with such a small price tag.
