Thursday’s NHL card features a total of 10 games, which means two-thirds of the league will be in action. We’ve got an individual preview of the Montreal-Boston game in its own article and below, we have rounded up three other picks we like from the menu.
Washington Capitals vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
This looks like a reasonable spot to go against Columbus as their hot streak has clearly ended. They’ve now dropped three straight – two of which were at home – the losses were not to teams that you’d call elite. That being the case, Washington, who has won two straight, should have a fairly good shot to cash in here on the NHL odds. They’ve scored 10 goals in their last two games and when their offense plays well, they play well.
NHL Pick: Capitals +120 at Bookmaker
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Los Angeles Kings
The Pens have been about a 50-50 shot on the road of late, splitting their last six away games, but since the odds reflect that, they figure to be worth a shot. At Pinnacle, you only have to lay -104 if you add them to your sports picks.
The Kings continue to be a mess these days as they’ve dropped 11 of their last 16 games. They’re coming off a 3-0 shutout loss to Phoenix, who has been one of the worst teams in the NHL over the last month. Take the Pens here.
NHL Pick: Pens -104 at Pinnacle
Florida Panthers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Over looks like a good choice for our NHL picks here as the two teams involved here haven’t been playing much defense. Panthers netminder Tim Thomas has a 2.93, which is definitely lofty. He could have a tough time with a Leafs offense that has scored three goals or more in eight of their last nine.
As for the Leafs, no team in the NHL has allowed more goals per game than them this month. Expect them to do their share to get this over the number.
