Championship Handicapper Dana Lane explains why it's not time to get on the 'under' in this one just because the Blues finally played a great defensive game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.  This team is more like the one who gave up 18 goals in the three games prior.

Last night the Edmonton Oilers came up with a huge road effort to stop us from going, a season high, 10 games over .500. We'll regroup and cash our ticket tonight.

Before our game preview I want to inform you that I'll have a complete All-Star Game column which will feature selections from all of the all-star game festivities. Pick results from the event will not be infused in our daily selection record. This is a fun event that no one should put a large amount of their bankroll on. These plays are truly for entertainment purposes only.

First, I like to play pre ASG match-ups 'over' because players just want it to be over so they can either get a break or move on to Los Angeles for the game.

Saint Louis Blues vs Minnesota Wild

Even though the Blues don't give up a lot of shots (27.6) and the Wild allow just 2.26 goals per game, don't just automatically assume that this will be an easy 'under'. Very rarely do we think of the Minnesota Wild as a great offensive team but since December 4th the Wild have scored the most goals in the Western Conference, outscoring opponents 93-61 in that 25 game stretch. They are only one of six teams that have at least seven players scoring in the double digits. Be sure to shop and compare all the different NHL Odds available here.

Carter Hutton will get the start in goal for St. Louis after shutting out the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0, Tuesday.

The Stars can make all the right comments about how fast and strong the Blues are but the fact is they are not very fast and have been poor on defense allowing the 6th most goals per game at 3.04.

For the Blues we may have a Vladimir Tarasenko sighting again as Tarasenko has six goals, 13 points, in 16 games against the Wild.  Tarasenko hasn't scored in eight straight games.

Wild goaltender, Devan Dubnyk, has been as good as any goaltender this season but against the Blues his numbers take a dramatic dip as he's just 5-11-2 with a 3.43 goals against average.

Let's get on the 'over' 5 -135 in this one as we head into the All Star break on a high note.
