The Minnesota Wild continue their hard charge towards the playoffs and on Sunday, they’ll get a visit from the former Minnesota franchise as the Dallas Stars make the journey. The Wild are favored on the NHL betting lines in this one.

The Dallas Stars Can Win Because…
They’re a solid road team. For some bizarre reason, the Stars have been far more competent on the road this season than at home. On the year, they are now 12-19 at home compared to 15-13 on the road. That’s a noticeable difference. More recently, they’ve lost two straight and five of six at home. But on the road, they’ve won six of their last nine on the road. Currently Odds makers are holding off the NHL betting odds.

The Stars should be going up against Devan Dubnyk on Sunday but he hasn’t played well against Dallas. He’s won just two of nine outings while posting a 3.43 GAA and an .886 save percentage. Dallas could be able to pull a surprise here even though no one is expecting it.

The Minnesota Wild Can Win Because…
They’re playing very well these days. With Devan Dubnyk in net, the Wild have made a late-season run and if they keep this up, they’re likely to sneak into the playoffs. The Wild have won 10 of their last 12 games and are one of the hottest teams in the NHL. And one of their two losses came in overtime and the other was a one-goal defeat – both on the road. Clearly, this is their best stretch of the season.

Dubnyk has made a huge difference for the Wild – believe it or not – as no team in the NHL has allowed fewer goals per game than the Wild at 1.60. They’ve been absolutely phenomenal at the defensive end. At the same, they’ve been scoring 3.10 goals per game this month, which is the eighth-best number. That means they’ve been winning their games by 1.50 goals per game, which is a huge margin.

Sunday’s contest will be made easier by the fact that they won’t have to see Tyler Seguin in the lineup. Dallas’ superstar is out due to injury and the Stars simply can’t expect to be the same team without one of the NHL’s 10 best players. And at the other end of the ice, the Stars have been very leaky as they’ve given up 17 goals in their last four games. The Wild have been on a roll and there’s no reason to expect a change here.

Outlook
The Wild should win this game but we’re looking at a big line here. Not much is going to be expected here of Dallas as they’ve lost three of four, are in a back-to-back situation and are now going on the road to face a hot team in Minnesota. However, the Wild are back at home after a three-game road trip and might be a bit flat-footed. And with Dallas giving up goals by the bushel, we should expect a high-scoring game in this spot. Take the over with your NHL pick and look for it to cash in this game for the aforementioned reasons.
