Two bitter rivals meet up on Saturday night when the Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Montreal Canadiens. It’s an important game in the standings as two points separate these two teams.

The Toronto Maple Leafs Can Win Because…

The Habs are without Carey Price. They simply don’t have the same amount of success with Peter Budaj in net compared to when they play with their top goaltender. Although Budaj and the Habs are coming off a 6-5 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins this week, the Habs have actually dropped seven of the last nine starts that Budaj has made this year.

The Leafs are very comfortable playing in Montreal as they’ve won five of their last seven trips there while picking up 4.1 units. They’re worth the investment here.

The Montreal Canadiens Can Win Because….

Toronto just isn’t a good road bet. The Leafs are 11-18 on the road this season and are coming off a road loss against the New York Islanders. As a matter of fact, the Leafs have lost four of their last five road games, dropping contests to teams like Florida, Winnipeg and Dallas. Each of those teams has less points than Montreal, so that goes to show you that the Leafs aren’t in a great scenario. That’s reason enough to take the Habs with your NHL picks.

Outlook & Pick

The NHL odds favor the Canadiens but I like the value with Toronto. They’ve won two of the three meetings with Montreal this season and now this time, without Carey Price in the equation, the Leafs should have the edge in goaltending. I also think they have the edge in offense, so I’ll take them with my NHL picks.

Pick: Maple Leafs +126 at Bovada
