The Ottawa Senators have dropped four of five and are slumping at the worst possible time. They need to find a way to generate some more offense if they want to get back on track on the NHL betting lines.
The Ottawa Senators Can Win Because…
The Jets offense is really struggling. They’re without talented forward Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler is in a slump (one goal in last nine games). Their power play has produced just one tally in the last 15 tries. That’s mostly why the Jets have dropped four of six, enduring their worst stretch since head coach Paul Maurice took over.
The Jets are just 10-14 when playing at home with a total of 5.5, costing bettors 6.8 units. Is that the type of team you want to lay juice with on the NHL odds? The Sens are a better choice for your NHL picks. They’ve won three straight in Winnipeg and six of eight in this series overall.
The Winnipeg Jets Can Win Because…
The Sens are in a funk. It was an odd week for Ottawa, who was supposed to be sellers at the trade deadline. Instead, they kept their veterans and added Ales Hemsky to the mix, throwing the team and fans for a loop. As a result, the team hasn’t really been in their games mentally. They’ve scored two goals or less in four of the last five games while totaling just 10 in that span.
Winnipeg has lost two straight but this is a great opportunity for them to get back on track. They need points to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot and they simply can’t afford a third straight loss. They’re only three points out of a spot, so their goal is still in reach. They just need to snap out of their current funk.
Outlook & Pick
It’s been a busy week for the Senators with a four-game Canadian road trip spanning seven days. On top of that, there was the stressful trade deadline. With this being the final game on the Sens road trip, I look for them to be a little out of gas. I’ll take a flier with the Jets and add them to my sports picks.
