As expected, the Stanley Cup Playoffs have gotten off to a wild start and the madness is just starting. Beginning Sunday, we have a change in venues as the series begin to flip with different home teams.
Here is a look at what is happening for those making NHL picks and what teams are in trouble or might be soon.
Underdogs Playing True to Form
In an article that I wrote here before the playoffs started, I made mention of playing underdogs in the first round was a wise choice. Thus far that has been true. If you blindly bet all underdogs, as of Easter Sunday you would have a 7-9 record and be up +2.25 units. In most cases, many of those following the NHL odds would be up even more as Boston was the favorite in Game 2 until a few hours before their game when a rash of Ottawa money made them the favored squad.
Keep an Eye on Totals Also
If you are also locked into the NHL odds, it is noteworthy the UNDER is 9-3-4. Will changing ice rinks mean more goals? We will find out!
Some Teams in Big Trouble, Others are Close to It
Chicago and Minnesota had the most points in the Western Conference and both hit the road down 0-2, meaning they have to win four of five, including most likely three on the road. Both are capable, but chances are both will not survive.
Washington is having all kinds of trouble with Toronto and once again the Capitals at least for now look vulnerable in the postseason.
Boston is tied with Ottawa, but in its last four games, they have lost defensemen in each of them and it hurt them in Game 2, unable to hold a 3-1 lead in the third period before losing. Unless one or two Bruins back-liners returns, they too could fall in this series.Compare Stanley Cup Futures From Top Sportsbooks
