The New York Rangers Can Win Because…
The Kings could have a letdown. Going from beating the defending Stanley Cup champs on the road in overtime in the Western Conference finals to facing the Rangers in Game 1 could lead to a letdown. The Kings have lost Game 1 in two of their three series this postseason.
The Rangers should be well-rested as they’ve been off since last Thursday. That could be a huge edge at this point in the season considering just how much wear and tear the playoffs bring.
The Los Angeles
Kings Can Win Because…
They’re significantly better. For starters, their offense is on absolute fire. They are averaging 4.3 goals per game over their last six and lead all playoff teams in scoring with 3.40 per game. That’s bad news for a Rangers team that simply won’t be able to keep up in a high-scoring affair. The Rangers are eighth in scoring among playoff teams with just 2.70 goals per game.
The Kings offensive units are clicking right now, which is going to be the story of this series. The Anze Kopitar-Dustin Brown-Marian Gaborik line has combined for 51 playoff points, the Jeff Carter-Tanner Pearson-Tyler Toffoli line is unstoppable right now and the checking like of Jarret Stoll-Mike Richards-Justin Williams has been very clutch. The Rangers are going to have their hands full at both ends of the rink. This is not a good matchup for them.

Outlook & Pick
The Rangers will be more rested but that’s not likely to matter. The way the Kings are going, they probably don’t want the rest as they’re riding a big wave of momentum. The Kings should win but with the juice being a tad high, I’ll instead go under with my NHL picks. The Rangers probably won’t be doing much scoring in this series.
