Will Vladimir Taresenko continue his resurgence for the Blues who are playing their fourth game of a six-game homestand.  Championship handicapper Dana Lane discusses if he's willing to lay -140 tonight.

Now my readers are starting to roll again!

The New York Rangers cashed an easy +120 winner last night against the Philadelphia Flyers. The NHL is close to the halfway point which means this is the time of year we tend to heat up. Another episode of the 'PuckHeads' was taped this morning so I look to give different plays on my write-up. That brings us to the Scottrade Center where the St. Louis Blues are hosting the Carolina Hurricanes

The Blues are fresh off their victory against the Chicago Blackhawks in the Winter Classic.  Normally, I play against teams that just had a big victory on a big stage but it's safe to back the Blues tonight at -139.  As always, shop for the best lines at all SBR approved SportsBooks here.

Currently, we see a range of moneylines that sit between -139 at 5Dimes and -180 at SportsInteraction.  Usually, we'll see a 10-20 cent difference but today we see a wide variety of moneylines. I can't emphasize enough the importance of diligently shopping for the best number in this one.  Anything over -150 isn't worth the risk.

Listening to Head Coach Ken Hitchcock, I'm convinced that St.Louis is focused.  It makes sense that a team that hasn't won back to back games in a month wouldn't; get too full of themselves. The Blues have three important home games before they leave for a road trip.  With St. Louis hanging on to the last playoff spot in the Central I don't have any concern that bettors will get less than the Blues best effort from Hitchcock's team. Word is that St. Louis had a spirited, focused practice yesterday. The Hurricanes decided to cancel practice Wednesday.

Carolina has not played well since the holiday break (1-3). They last dropped a 3-1 home decision to the Devils. Carolina has lost the momentum they had going into the break. Most noticeable was how flat and uninspired they looked in the loss. Carolina had too much difficulty carrying the puck through the neutral zone which made it difficult to get quality pressure on Corey Schneider. We don't want to bet that the clear lesser of these two teams finds some inspiration. Bet what we know not what we hope.
