Jets are still just 5-11 at Nashville while the Predators are 12-3 the game after scoring two goals or less.

It couldn’t have been a more dominant performance by the Nashville Predators outshooting the Winnipeg Jets 48-19 but Jets Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 47 saves and Mark Scheifele added two goals to lead the Winnipeg Jets past the Predators 4-1 to earn a 1-0 advantage in their best of seven series. Nothing was too much of a shock in game one considering I picked the Jets to win the series but went with Nashville in game one. I thought it would take a game for the Jets to settle into the Bridgestone Atmosphere but it took them approximately five minutes to find a comfort zone on a goal by Brandon Tanev to give Winnipeg the early lead.

The win made the books happy as they cleaned up with over 60% of all tickets written coming in on the Predators. Both the public and sharp bettors took it on the chin last night.

Game three puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 ET/4:00 PT at Bridgestone Arena and can be seen on the NBC Sports Network, CBC, TVAS.

A glance at the game two number on the SBR NHL odds page shows that the odds-makers are expecting Peter Laviolette’s team to bounce back as they’re once again a big favorite (-170) which is bigger than what they closed at in game one (-165). Despite the loss the public is on the Predators with 53% of the tickets in their favor.

The total opened at 5.5, -110 (over) and has stayed steady. You can find Even money on the ‘under’ at Heritage and -108, ‘over’, at SportsBetting with everything else being right around the opening number.

I anticipate the series going seven games so if I think that then I’m compelled to take the Predators tonight. It will be just the sixth time in 30 years that the top two teams in the regular season will face-off in the postseason. The Jets finished three points in back of Nashville for the league’s overall best record.

In order for the Predators to come out with a series tie they must get a better effort from P.K. Subban who has been up and down this postseason. Laviolette’s team won’t move on to the second round if Subban is putting up a -3 while not factoring on the scoresheet in 28:24 of ice time.

The good news is there wasn’t one offensive category that the Nashville Predators didn’t dominate and some players classified the game as one of the best the Predators have played this season. It was just the second time that Nashville had dropped an opening series game in their last six appearances.

I’m getting the regulation wager here to make it a bankroll friendly bet but Nashville evens this up Sunday.
