Buffalo Sabres vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
When’s the last time you remember the Columbus Blue Jackets laying more than -200? It’s been a while – that’s for sure. They’re laying that much on Saturday because they’re hosting the lousy Buffalo Sabres, who are the worst team in the NHL. The Sabres have also lost five straight coming into this meeting.
As for the Blue Jackets, they are at the opposite end of the spectrum. They are one of the hottest teams in the league right now as they’ve won a league-high eight straight games. Goaltending has been a big part of their success as they’re giving up just 2.13 goals per game in that span while scoring a healthy 4.38 themselves.
I’m not going to lay the crazy number on the NHL odds but what I will do is add the Blue Jackets puckline to my sports picks.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Dallas Stars
Although the Stars have won two straight, I’m still not sold on them right now. This modest two-game winning streak followed up a stretch where they lost nine of 10. The Stars power play has keyed this surge (seven for their last 21 with the man-advantage) but they might find it tough sledding on Saturday as the Pens lead the league by killing off 88.4% of their penalties.
The Stars typically have a tough time following up their big wins. They slammed Toronto 7-1 on Thursday but they are only 4-13 this year when scoring 4 or more in their previous game. They are also just 4-8 after a win by two or more goals and just 3-8 on Saturdays.
As for the Pens, they love feasting on sub-.500 teams as they are 22-9 in that spot. They have won seven of eight in this series while goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has won all six of his career starts against Dallas, posting a 1.95 GAA in the process. I’ll lay the juice with my NHL picks here.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Los Angeles Kings
I’ll be looking for a low-scoring affair in this one when the Ducks and Kings finish up their home-and-home series. The Ducks beat the Kings 2-1 on Thursday night and I’ll be expecting a similar result.
The Kings have lost four straight and – once again – a lack of scoring is the culprit. They’ve notched just 14 goals in their last seven games, which isn’t good enough in this league. As for the Ducks, they’ve gone kind of cold after winning 18 of 19. They are 2-2 in their last four while tallying two goals or less in three of those games.
The under has come through in three straight for the Ducks and five of the last seven for the Kings. I’ll go under the number with my sports picks here.
