Make sure you get your bets in early as the Carolina Hurricanes and Boston Bruins will start at 1:00 PM ET and the Minnesota Wild-Winnipeg Jets game will also be an afternoon matinee.
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Montreal Canadiens
I’ve been betting against Montreal at home with regularity and the strategy has paid off so far. They are just 6-5-2 (or 6-7) at home this season and have lost three of their last five at the Bell Centre. On Saturday, they’ll host the Pittsburgh Penguins, who they’ve struggled against recently. The Pens have won three straight in this series and six of the last seven meetings overall. The issue seems to be goaltender Carey Price, who is just 1-3-2 in his last six starts against them with a 3.48. As for Marc-Andre Fleury, he’s 5-0-1 in his last six against Pittsburgh.
Free Pick: Pens -104 at Pinnacle
New York Islanders @ Philadelphia Flyers
We’re going to take another shot with the Flyers as they’ve been paying dividends recently. They’ve turned their season around – at least for the time being – and are 8-3-2 in their last 13 games. More recently, they’ve won five of six.
Even when they’ve been awful – either at the start of this year or last year – they’ve still dominated the New York Islanders. They are 15-1-2 in their last 18 games at home versus the Islanders. Overall, they are 24-3-2 in the last 29 matchups.
The Isles are without top goaltender Evgeni Nabokov, who is dealing with a pulled groin. Backup Kevin Poulin has been awful as he’s just 3-6-0 with a .898 save percentage on the season. He also has a 3.05 GAA in his last two starts against Philadelphia.
I’m still not going to lay all of the juice with Philadelphia. The Isles played last night and fatigue should kick in. I’ll add the Flyers puck line to my NHL picks.

Dallas Stars @ St. Louis Blues
For whatever reason, Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen has played much better on the road than at home, and we’re going bet on that leading to an under. Lehtonen is 2-3-2 with a 2.36 GAA and a .926 save percentage at home. On the road, he’s 8-1-0 with a 1.93 GAA and a .936 save percentage. On Saturday, he’ll go up against the St. Louis Blues, who are typically a low-scoring, defensive-minded team. Jaroslav Halak should be in net for the Blues and he’s posted a 2.00 GAA against the Stars in his last four starts in this series.
With quality goaltending on both sides, I’ll look for a low-scoring game and take the under.
