Championship Handicapper Dana Lane explains why the combination of Sabres goaltender, Robin Lehner, and the six goals scored by the Wings against Boston are not reasons to jump on the 'over' in this one.

Detroit Red Wings vs Buffalo Sabres

We usually do pretty well with our plays on a daily basis but yesterday we nailed the Capitals/Blues game to go 'over' the total, which it easily did with a Caps 7-3 win. Then on today's 'PuckHeads' video which is taped every Tuesday and Thursday morning here on SBR with Mike Brenner and Scott Carter, we crushed both of our releases.  That makes four straight 'PuckHeads' winners as we look to continue as 'Red Hot' streak.

In a battle of two of the worst that the Eastern Conference has to offer, the Detroit Red Wings will travel to the Key Bank Center to take on the Buffalo Sabres. Detroit is coming off a 6-5 shootout victory over the Boston Bruins which surprisingly hasn't been enough for the public to get down on the 'over'. Usually the 'Joe's' overreact to what they just saw enabling us to get a better line but because the Sabres are one of the league's worst offensive teams it keeps the Wings outburst diluted in the minds of bettors. Lehner allowed three goals in the first two minutes of the second period against Toronto. His record of 10-12-5, 2.45 goals against isn't good but he not getting a lot of support in front. Lehner's save percentage is a respectable .920.

I look to bet players to bounce back after a bad performance. It creates an opportunity for players to rebound, usually at the expense of bettors who still use common sense to handicap.

Overall, the Sabres have underachieved in many ways under Dan Bylsma. He seems to want to grind it out with a team that wants to show off their speed. At 11% you're not going to get much help from the Wings power play. The Wings are just two for their last 32 over their last 10 games. The 'under' is 15-6-6 in the Sabres last 27 home games. Head to head, the 'under' is 6-2-1 in their last 9 meetings in Buffalo. I know we keep saying this but it's very important to shop for the best lines at all SBR approved sportsbooks
