Robin Lehner was lifted after just five minutes against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday, after giving up three goals on five shots.  Will Lehner come back strong tonight, read on to get Dana Lane's opinion on the Sabres last home game.

Montreal Canadiens vs Buffalo Sabres

A giant victory for my followers on our daily write-up as well as the ‘Puckheads’.

Our selection nailed the Capitals, Leafs ‘under’ 5.5 to coincide with a 2-1 ‘Puckheads’ record, leading you to the cashiers cage once again.

The season is winding down but I'm zeroed in on the postseason as we're going to cap off a successful 2016-2017 campaign.

I still struggle with putting the Montreal Canadiens high up on my power rankings mostly because I don’t know if they have enough offense to carry them deep into the playoffs. Although they’re doing a better job getting pucks to the net over the last month, I question their ability to create quality offensive chances on a consistent basis against better teams.

Robin Lehner won’t be the only one you can count on to give a better account of themselves.  Jack Eichel contributed a goal against the Leafs but admitted he didn’t play well.  If history is any indication of the effort we can expect then Buffalo is the right side.  Buffalo is 25-25-16 all-time in their final home game while Jack Eichel has 35 points in 31 home games this season, including 11 multi-point performances.

You can count on the Sabres to win the special teams battle as they rank 1st in the league with the man advantage and they've gotten better as the season has progressed. The Sabres are connecting at 37.9% rate with the Toronto Maple Leafs slotted in the number two spot at 30%.

Couple that with Dan Bylsma’s team is 9th (85.0%) on the penalty kill over their last seven games and we have ourselves a legitimate home underdog play as special teams is one of the key components when I start the handicapping process.

I’ve never thought the Sabres were as bad as their record indicates to go along with my belief that Montreal isn’t as good as theirs.
