The NHL odds are out for tonight's matchup as the New York Rangers (20-12-2-2 SU, 17-19 PL, 15-16-5 OU) come in off a hard fought 3-2 win over Anaheim, but still they have won just six of their last eight games, while the Nashville Predators (17-12-5-1 SU, 15-20 PL, 12-16-7 OU) come in off a 3-2 loss to Detroit, which was their 4th loss in their last six games. The Rangers have taken four of the last five games played in Nashville.

Brassard, Zuccarello Lead Rangers Over Ducks
The New York Rangers have been in a bit of a slump of late as they have have lost six of their last eight games, but they do come in off a nice 3-2 win over Anaheim in OT. That win snapped a three game slide. The stars of the game for New York were Derick Brassard, who scored both goals in regulation and had an assist as well and Mats Zuccarello, who scored the game winner in OT, plus he also had an assist in the game. Zuccarello leads the team in scoring with 15 goals and points with 30, while Brassards, two goals now, has him 2nd on the team in scoring with 13.

Henrik Lundqvist came into this game on a three game losing streak and he allowed a total of 13 goals in those games. Well, he got back on track in this one stopping 17 of 19 shots for the win. Lundqvist is now 16-12 on the year with a 2.41 GAA. He should get the start here and is also 5-8 with a 2.64 GAA on the road, while vs the Preds he is 5-3 with a 1.50 GAA in his career. The Rangers come in ranked 5th in the league in scoring, putting up 2.9 gpg and 5th in power play conversions (21.6%), while at the defensive end of the ice, they are 14th in goals allowed (2.5 gpg) and 8th in penalty kill (82.4%).

Preds Lose Tough One at Home to Red Wings
The Nashville Predators came in on a mini two game winning streak, but they couldn’t make it three in a row after losing at home to the Red Wings by a 3-2 score. The Red Wings started the game with 1-0 lead, and then they took a 2-1 lead before Filip Forsberg tied the game in the 2nd period with his 2nd goal of the game. Detroit then won the game on a goal by Luke Glendening in the third period. The Goals by Forsberg were his 8th and 9th of the year and that ties him for third on the team with Roman Josi. The Preds are slumping as they have now lost six of their last 18 games.

Taking the loss in the game was Pekka Rinne, who is now just 3-7 in his last 10 starts. For the year, he has gone just 14-16 with a 2.36 GAA. Rinne should get the start here as well and is 11-7 with a 1.99 GAA at home for the year, while vs the Rangers in his career, he has gone 1-3 with a 2.24 GAA. The Preds check in at 17th in the league in scoring, putting up 2.6 gpg and 10th in power play conversions, converting on 20.3% of their chances, while at the defensive end of the ice they are 13th in goals allowed, giving up 2.5 gpg, but they have struggled on the penalty kill where they rank 29th in the league, allowing teams to convert on 24.3% of their chances.

Trends for New York:
40-14 in their last 54 when their opponent scores two goals or less in their previous game
9-3 in their last 12 games playing on three or more days rest

Trends for Nashville:
3-8 in their last 11 vs. the Eastern Conference
0-5 their last five vs the Metropolitan

Betting Analysis
The Rangers were slumping before their little break, but I feel that they will be a rejuvenated team and come out swinging. The Preds have been slumping all year and the Rangers have the clear edge in goal with Lundqvist over Rinne. The Rangers had a nice win over Anaheim before their break and I feel that they will build off of that with a solid road win in tonight's matchup. Back them with your NHL picks.
