The Wild host the Rangers on Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota with the opening faceoff slated for 8:05 PM ET. Can NHL bettors expect to find any sort of value by placing their picks on this game?

According to NHL odds the Wild is a -120 money line home favorite and the posted total is 5.0. The Rangers are currently 2nd in the Metropolitan Division, and 6th overall in the Eastern Conference. Minnesota is 4th in the Central Division, and 7th overall in the Western Conference.

Road Warriors

The Rangers have been one of the better road teams in all the NHL this season going 19-12 versus the money line in that role, including 7-2 in their last 9. However, they do come off a 3-1 road loss at Carolina on Tuesday. This will be the 2nd of a 3-game in 4-day road trip for the Rangers. The trip will be concluded tomorrow at Winnipeg.

Snapping out of a Mini-Slump

There’s surely no reason to panic for the Wild despite having lost their last 3 in a row. Their last 2 losses came via the overtime shootout session, and both occurred on home ice. Despite the recent 2 home losses Minnesota is still a very good 22-11 versus the money line at the Xcel Energy Center this season. The Wild have gone over the total in just 10 of their first 33 home games this season. They’ve gone under the total in 13 of 17-games this year versus opponents that allow an average of 2.55 goals or less per game, and have also gone under the total in 16 of 21 this season when playing their 4th game in the last 7-days. Tonight will be the 3rd of a 4-game in 7-day home stand for Minnesota.
