The Blue Jackets were one win away from tying the all-time consecutive win streak but Championship Handicapper Dana Lane thinks this is the start of a Jackets losing streak.

N.Y. Rangers vs Columbus Blue Jackets

It got a little uncomfortable for our Toronto, New Jersey 'over' selection last night as we received four first period goals and then had to sweat out a scoreless second before two late goals cashed our plus money ticket.

Tonight, we move on to another plus money opportunity as the New York Rangers travel to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets who were left one win shy of an NHL record 17 game win streak. This is how we should anticipate Columbus to rebound from their streak.

Let's just get this out of the way as simple as it is. I love betting teams in a high-profile revenge spot. The Jackets already own a 4-2 victory over the Rangers this season.

The Columbus Blue Jackets stepped up against better competition Thursday night against Washington and were thoroughly dominated against an inspired Capitals team. Not only did the Caps snap the Blue Jackets 16 game win streak but they also provided a blue print to the Rangers who have their own reasons to send a statement. Despite the win streak the Rangers sit just three points behind Columbus for the lead in the Metro Division.

Because of the streak and loss, Columbus Head Coach John Tortorella gave his team Friday off, electing to hold a morning skate today. As taxing as the streak may have been I'm not a huge fan of supporting teams that have made changes to their daily routine. I know this was in an effort to rejuvenate but I'm not sure this will be enough time to re-charge, especially at home where they could be too comfortable while looking for hometown appreciation. I'm sure they will get a big hand from the home folks but I want to back teams that I anticipate will play with urgency, between these two it's hard for me to believe that the urgency factor wouldn't be with New York.

Let's also remember that for all their success the Jackets have trouble filling Nationwide Arena, Columbus is 27th in the league, filling only 81% of their building every night. Important to note that not only will there not be a huge home ice advantage but there's a good chance that there will be a generous amount Ranger fans in attendance.

Let's get some Ranger plus money tonight.
