The NHL betting plate serves up two stellar games today. Join us as we preview the Rangers and Capitals in game 5 and the Ducks and Flames in game 4, all while serving up our NHL picks.

Capitals +1.5 (-210), +150 vs. Rangers -1.5 (+175), -170
Over 4.5 (-130) Under 4.5 (+110)
NHL Betting Analysis: The Rangers are in a pickle. The Stanley Cup betting favourites are staring down the barrel of elimination, down 1-3 in the series with the Washington Capitals and going into a must-win game 5 at Madison Square Garden.

Indeed, this is the time to put up or shut up. As it is, the Rangers are the favourites on the NHL betting odds board, matched at -170 to win outright and as the 1.5 faves on the puck line. But this series hasn't gone according to expectations at all.

Since last season, the Rangers have played in an NHL record 11-straight playoff games decided by a goal. It's been the way of this series as it it's been in the first round, the only difference this time around is that it's going the way of the Capitals.

The Rangers really need to perk up tonight or they are headed towards the exit sign. The Capitals are a game away from clinching the series and a spot in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, albeit they are matched as the considerable underdogs at +150 to win outright.

Just as good as Holtby has been for the Capitals, Lundqvist has done his part. It's the offense that is sorely lacking and seems to have left the Rangers' bench entirely. If they don't find it quick, they'll be out. Nothing but a superb offensive account, complemented by Lundqvist's experienced goaltending is going to do the trick.

NHL Picks: Rangers light up Madison Square Garden and send the series to a game 6 in Washington. Take the Rangers at -170 to win outright and the Under 4.5 (+110) on your NHL picks at Bovada.

Ducks -1.5 (+200), -150 vs. Flames +1.5 (-240), +130
Over 5.5 (+110) Under 5.5 (-130

NHL Betting Verdict: The Anaheim Ducks look to take a 3-1 lead in the series over the Flames when the pair resume hostilities in Calgary tonight. The Ducks opened the series with a resounding 6-1 win in Anaheim. They followed up with another comprehensive 3-0 win at home before heading to Calgary for game 3. That's when things hit a snag.

Up 2-0, the Ducks missed a huge opportunity to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series with a 4-3 defeat in overtime. Truth be told, the Flames were rather fortunate to win that game and keep hope alive in the NHL Playoffs. Eleven power play goals went begging in this series before one finally creeped into the net, which happened to be the game-tying goal. Then Backlund's low shot delivered the unlikely game-winning goal in overtime.

With that win the Flames are theoretically back in the series, but the Ducks will look to regain control before returning home for game 5. As it is, the NHL odds board serves up the Ducks as the decisive faves on the road. Trading at -150 to win straight up and as the 1.5-point road faves on the puck line, the game is cornered in their camp. The Flames deserve credit for going toe-to-toe with the Ducks in game 3, but it's obvious to all and sundry that the Ducks are simply, stronger, deeper and better. As such, they are the smart NHL pick at -150 to win outright on the road.

NHL Picks: Ducks win at -150 NHL odds in a big way, so take the Over 5.5 at +105 at BetDSI.
