There are just three games on Wednesday's NHL slate, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of potential great prop opportunities. Find out our top NHL prop picks for Wednesday.

For Wednesday's top prop picks we're betting that Auston Matthews hot streak will come to an end, and for two other players to get plenty of offensive opportunities against their opponents.

Here are my NHL prop picks and predictions for Wednesday (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5 star rating).

Wednesday's Top NHL Prop Picks

Auston Matthews Under 1.5 points (-220) ????Nico Hischier Over 0.5 points (-160) ???Nathan MacKinnon Over 4.5 shots (-105) ????

Top Prop Picks

Matthews Under 1.5 points (-220)

No question the big storyline in the league this Wednesday is the 24-year-old American trying to tie an NHL record with at least one goal in 11 straight road games. Pavel Bure (1993-94) and Steve Yzerman (1988-89) were the two who did it previously. However, I don't think he will tie that record tonight.

After a slow start to the season, Matthews is up to 25 goals as he looks to repeat as the Rocket Richard Trophy winner. In six career games at the Rangers, he has three goals. I like Under 1.5 points as the Rangers have a terrific defense and goaltender in Igor Shesterkin. It’s not easy to get two points in a game, and Shesterkin has a 1.99 GAA on the season and 1.73 at home. Expect reigning Norris Trophy winner Adam Fox to be hard-matched against Matthews all night to hit the Under on this NHL prop pick.

Hischier Over 0.5 points (-160)

Frankly, you should bet most teams’ top offensive players on Over whenever they face the Coyotes. They allow the most goals in the NHL at 3.68 per game and their goaltenders’ save percentage of .895 is third-worst.

Hischier ranks second on the Devils with 22 points (in 31 games) but has scored eight points (four goals, four assists) with 21 shots on goal over his past eight games. He seems fully recovered from any COVID issues as the Swiss forward was one of the first players on the team to have a positive test in December.

MacKinnon Over 4.5 shots (-105)

I’m frankly shocked this price is so low on just 4.5 shots because MacKinnon has had at least five in seven straight games, with a high of 12 on Jan. 8 against Toronto. Anaheim ranks second-worst in the NHL in shots against at 1,234. In his lone game against the Ducks this season, MacKinnon had three assists and six shots in a 4-2 win on Jan. 2.

Colorado leads the NHL in scoring (4.25) and MacKinnon ranks third on the team with 40 points and first with 125 shots on goal. That ranks 12th in the NHL even though MacKinnon has been limited to only 26 games due to COVID/injury. He should put plenty of pucks on net.
