The Central division is heating up and the final playoff spot is a three horse race between the Nashville Predators, Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago came out on top against Nashville on Wednesday night to keep their chances alive, can they win again tonight to move to within 1 point of the Predators?
Nashville Predators vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Friday, April 23, 2021 – 08:00 PM EDT at United Center
The Predators opened up with a 5-2 win over the Blackhawks in the first game of a three game series on Monday night. Wednesday night seen game two take place and Chicago came out as winners in overtime to claim a 5-4 victory to keep their chances alive for a playoff spot. With that being said, it was more so an epic collapse by the Predators than an amazing comeback by Chicago. It felt like Nashville thought they had already won the game as they held a 4-1 lead with 18 minutes to play. This is something to note when looking at the NHL lines.
Nashville are desperate to hold on to their 4th place spot in the division, with Dallas and Chicago lurking behind them. The biggest concern for the Predators is they only hold a 2 point lead over Dallas, but Dallas have played two games less. They hold a 3 point lead over Chicago, who have played one games less. A victory tonight would keep both teams at arm’s length for the time being, and all but end Chicago’s chances of claiming that 4th spot in the division.
What Are The Betting Odds and Current Lines?
- The Nashville Predators opened up the betting on the moneyline at odds of -120 and they are currently in and around -120 with the best online sportsbooks.
- If you were thinking about taking the Chicago Blackhawks on the moneyline, now is the time to jump on as they opened up at +105 but are currently gone out to +115, we expect some late money for the Blackhawks, and they might go off at lesser odds.
- The Predators -1.5 on the puck line is currently best priced at +190 with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), if you wish to take the Blackhawks at +1.5 on the puck line you can get around -220.
- The total opened up for this game at 5.5 and the odds opened at -105 for both the over and under. At the time of writing the over is currently -115 and the under is -105.
Although the Blackhawks fought hard to get the win on Wednesday night, the stats speak for themselves, they are 1-6 this season against the Predators and only managed to score 8 goals across their first six meeting with the Predators this season, an average of less than 2 goals per game. Nashville scored a total of 19 goals across those first six games. We believe the Predators are the better, more consistent team here and should look to avenge themselves following that 3rd period collapse in the last game. -120 is a fair price for the Predators in this game, we wouldn’t advise laying anymore juice than -130. If you can get better than our number of -120 at online betting sites, take it.
One concern for Nashville may be the fact that Juuse Saros is due a night off, he has been in the net for the previous 6 Predators games and although not considered an Elite goaltender he could be an upgrade than the 38 year old Veteran Pekka Rinne. The 38 year old has 9 wins, 11 losses and 2.97 goals against this season, compared to Saros’s 16 wins and 9 losses and 2.32 goals against. Rinne stats hasn’t been as good since he became backup goaltender for the Predators, but if he gets the nod tonight, he would love to step up and get his team a win. At the time of writing Saros is down as expected to start.
