‘Over’ is 7-2 in their last 10 meetings between these two teams, and it seems like a sharp angle for their Monday night encounter.

Nashville Predators (2) vs Winnipeg Jets (3)

This is the time of year where the betting public separates the men from the boys, as my grandfather would always say. I told a local Las Vegas sportswriter a few days ago that either I’m going to look like a genius or we’ll both be receiving emails for weeks after he printed my predictions of the post season in the Las Vegas Review Journal. Imagine the tweets I received when he wrote that I believed the Golden Knights would lose to San Jose in the exact fashion it’s going down now. Yes, I think they steal one at T-Mobile Tuesday.

One series that hasn’t made me sweat, yet, is the Winnipeg Jets, Nashville Predators match-up. The Jets can wrap it up at home after taking a 3-2 series lead with a message sending 6-2 win at Bridgestone Arena, Saturday. Connor Hellebuyck made 38 saves and Kyle Connor had a goal and 2 assist to go along with his +2 in 18:43 of ice time for Paul Maurice.

If you watch the ‘Ice Guys Show’ before the series started we were all over the Jets to win the series, something I hope happens tonight because a trip back to Nashville isn’t very appealing.

I don’t think that’s going to happen but we’re not going to lay -160 to see our series wager come through. Instead I’m going to get on the total because if I think the jets are going to move on then it’s reasonable to think that this game will find its way over the number considering if Nashville is behind at the end Peter Laviolette will pull Pekka Rinne in an effort to get even. A two goal deficit late will be ideal because that would force him to pull Rinne early.

The betting public seems to be in agreeance with my thoughts on the Jets after the number opened at -140 according to the SBR odds page but as I mentioned before the Jets are up to -160 in most spots including Bookmaker and Bovada. You can also get a regulation line which would dramatically reduce the juice. SportsInteraction is a great book to find those numbers along with American Hockey League and World Cup wagering.

When it comes to our bet it seems the betting public is backing my line of thinking as they are on the side. The oddsmakers continue to throw numbers up that are shaded to the under and the general public keeps on taking the plus money. Three of the last four in this series have gone under

the total and 7 of 10 overall but they continue to stuff our stockings with plus or even money opportunities if you want to take the ‘over’.

From a trend perspective, the Jets ‘over’ is now 23-9 when playing a team with a win percentage above .600.

Time for Nashville think about next season.
