The Public and professionals are slamming the ‘over’ in this one but champion handicapper Dana Lane explains why they’re both on the wrong side in this one.

Nashville Predators vs N.Y. Islanders

The New York Islanders are just three points behind the Boston Bruins for the last wild card in the East as they face the Nashville Predators who have been slowly playing a better brand of defensive hockey over the last few weeks.

We saw the opening number on the ‘total’ open at 5.5 in most spots but if we dig a little deeper we can find a couple of 6’s which I’m jumping on.

Make sure to always shop for the best lines available at SBR's NHL odds.

New York hasn’t played many games at home over the last month, four to be exact.  In those four games they’ve managed just nine goals while the Predators have allowed just 31 goals in their last 12 games.  Then you have the intangible of the Barclays Center having horrific ice that just seems to be getting worse.  It’s a slow track in an arena that’s more concerned with the NBA, College Basketball, and the WWE than they are providing a quality home surface for the Islanders.

The Predators are coming off a 7-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks so naturally, the public bets what they just saw as 83% of all tickets written on the ‘total’ have come in on the ‘over’.

The Islanders have left for dead a few months ago before bringing in Doug Weight in an effort to resurrect the ‘16-‘17 season.  Weight’s presence made an immediate impact as New York climbed back into playoff contention but since New York has settled back into a mediocre hockey team resembling a runner that has what it takes to catch up but not overtake the runner in front of them. (6-5-2 over their last 13 games).

Weight’s team has just 18 goals in their last seven games while achieving less than 30 shots over that span. Not great news against the Predators who have allowed just 13 goals in their last six games.

Let’s find that six for our NHL picks and hammer it tonight!
