Battle of Elite Teams in the West
The Ducks will host the Blues tonight at the Honda Center in Anaheim with the opening face-off slated for 8:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at BetUS, the Ducks are a -130 money line favorite. Bodog has posted a total of 5.0 in this contest. Anaheim has won 6 of the last 7-games versus St. Louis. These teams have seen 12 of their last 17 meetings go over the total, including 8 of the last 11 played in Anaheim.

Better than Advertised
The Blues are coming off a decisive 6-1 win at Arizona last night. The 6-goals scored matched their offensive output through their first 3-games when they lit the lamp just a combined 6-times. When I look inside the numbers, the Blues are performing much better than their 2-2 record may indicate. They’ve amassed 118 shots on goal over their last 3-games, are converting 33% of their power play chances so far, and are allowing a NHL low 1.2 goals per contest. This will be the final of a 3-game in 4-day road trip which has seen them earn 3 of a possible 4-points thus far. On a negative note, the Blues have gone 0-4 the last 4 when playing their 3rd game in 4-days, and their win last night snapped a 7-game road losing streak dating back to last season.

Oh those Mighty Ducks
The Ducks finally played their home opener on Thursday, and came away with a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild. That marked their 4th consecutive win since opening the season with a 6-4 loss at Pittsburgh. Corey Perry continued his hot start to the season by scoring the winning goal in the 3rd period. Perry now has 5-goals plus 2-assists through the first 5-games, and has recorded at least 1-point in each of those contests. The Ducks continue to be one of the top offensive teams in the NHL by averaging 3.4 goals per game so far. They’ve also been highly profitable at home, going 35-16 in their last 51-games at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Final Analysis
This is a terrific matchup involving two of the best teams in the Western Conference. The Blues have really generated a plethora of sustained offensive pressure over the last 3-games, and the Ducks offensive firepower speaks for itself during the past 2-seasons. I look for this to be a highly entertaining and fast paced game. I would advise a play on the total in this game regarding your NHL picks for tonight.
