With seven games on the card today we’ve got NHL picks on three of them. Check out the Dallas Stars-Chicago Blackhawks preview, which is separated off, and below we have picks on three other games.

Florida Panthers vs. Washington Capitals
NHL Odds: Capitals -175
The Capitals are probably the better choice on the side in this one as they have absolutely dominated this series. They have won 10 of the last 12 meetings between the teams overall and nine straight at home. The only two losses in those 12 games have come via shootout, so there’s a good chance they give you a good opportunity to win.

However, the juice is pretty high, so I’ll look at the under instead. Roberto Luongo is 15-1-0 with a 2.13 in his last 16 matchups with Washington. He’s playing pretty well these days with six wins in eight starts and a 1.79 GAA in that span. As for the Caps, they’ve allowed just 2.00 goals per game in their last 13. That being the case, go under with your NHL picks.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Ottawa Senators
NHL Odds: Lightning -140
The Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators have already squared off two times this season and both times have resulted in five-goal affairs. Even so, we’re faced with a NHL odds total of 5.5 on Sunday, so I’ll be going under the number.

The Sens have been a decent defensive team recently as they haven’t allowed more than two goals in any of their last four games. As for Tampa Bay, they’re coming off a 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins but that’s unusual for them. They had allowed just seven goals in their previous four games.

Bishop tends to play pretty well against Ottawa with a career .925 save percentage against them. Look for him and the Lightning to bounce back, and for us to get an under.

New York Islanders vs. Edmonton Oilers
NHL Odds: Islanders -190
The Islanders haven’t won in Edmonton in nearly a decade but there’s a good chance they get that elusive win on Sunday. Edmonton has just eight wins in 39 games this season and has just two wins in their last 24 games. They also have just two wins in their last 14 home games, so there’s no home-ice advantage.

However, the play I’ll recommend here is the under. The Oilers don’t score much themselves with just 2.1 per game. As for the Islanders, while they’re one of the highest scoring home teams in the NHL with 3.33 goals per game (fourth), they don’t score as much in road games. That figure drops to 2.65, which is 13th in the NHL.

They should have Jaroslav Halak in net and he’s posted a 1.81 GAA in his last 20 starts overall and a 1.25 GAA in his last six against Edmonton. Take the under with your NHL picks.
