Stars will face a tough Boston team on the road and the Bruins don't want to lose their Wild Card spot in the East and we can expect a competitive matchup tonight as Boston is the betting favorite.

Ice time is set for 7:00pm ET tonight at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. This game can be seen on NHL TV. Currently, 5 Dimes Sportsbook lists the Bruins as a sizeable -165 NHL odds betting favorite and the total for the game is 5.5 goals. This would be a good win for either team, but in my opinion the upset would be huge for Dallas. Let's see if the Bruins are a good fade.

Niklas Svedberg to Possibly Start For Boston
A good goalie can be the difference between making the playoffs and playing golf after getting eliminated. From a good source, we have no confirmation on the Stars goalie, but it's "likely" that Niklas Svedberg will be between the pipes for the Boston Bruins. For the Stars, we'll just have to assume that Kari Lehtonen will start as he's Dallas' regular starting goalie.

Svedberg (5-5, 2.22 GAA) gets the rare start and while he's been very solid in net, the Bruins haven't given him much offensive support as they rank 22nd in the league in goals at 2.6 goals per game.

Most of Boston's wins are low scoring affairs as they possess a top-notch defense. As for Svedberg, he hasn't played since January 8th and in that game the Bruins defeated the New Jersey Devils as Svedberg swiped away a mere 14 shots. Although he see's regular icetime, he doesn't see it at this level and this could be a great opportunity to fade the Bruins.

As for Kari Lehtonen (22-12-8, 2.94 GAA), his record is outstanding, but if it weren't for the Dallas offense, it would be much worse as he allows nearly 3 goals per game. That said, momentum is on Lehtonen's side as he and the Stars defeated a tough New York Rangers team in overtime, 3-2 in his last game. Lehtonen stopped 34 out of 36 shots and one has to feel good about this if they're thinking about making the Dallas Stars their betting pick.

While Dallas' defense leaves a lot to be desired, they have a ferocious offense that ranks 2nd in the NHL in goals at 3.1 per game. A major reason for this is the play of center Tyler Seguin.

Can He Reach 100 Points?
Right now, Seguin is on pace for 91 points and just short of 50 goals, but the way that he's been playing and with the setup men on his team, anything is possible.

Seguin is 3rd in the NHL with 29 goals and has 59 points on the season. I expect Seguin to put constant pressure on Niklas Svedberg. This is a player that had 10 shots on goal against Buffalo 3 days ago.

In his last 5 games, he's had 1 goal and 5 assists, but he's capable of exploding at any time and has major support from players such as Jamie Benn and Jason Spezza. Both Spezza and Benn lead the Stars with 31 assists apiece. This is a team that can rack up the goals in a hurry and with Tuukka Rask not playing, I really like Dallas' chances in this spot.

For the Bruins, winger Brad Marchand and centerman Carl Soderberg have been in a bit of a drought and will need to step up their games as leading scorer, Patrice Bergeron, can't do it all himself. Bergeron has scored 3 goals in his last 5 games and is the player to look towards when the scoring the big goal.

These teams are polar opposites and with the switch in goal, as for our NHL pick I like the underdog Stars here as they have plenty of firepower to light the lamp.
