Our NHL consultant will be turning his attention toward the puck-line in Friday’s game between the Devils and Ducks. Join us in reading his insightful article on this contest that displays how he uncovered true puck-line value.
Devils at the Duck Pond
The Anaheim Ducks will be hosting the New Jersey Devils tonight at 10:35 PM ET. Our area of concentration in this game will be on the puck-line. According to the NHL odds at Bookmaker, the Ducks are -1.5 (+130) and the Devils +1.5 (-150) on the puck-line.
State of the Devils
The New Jersey Devils are coming off a much needed 5-3 road win in their last game over Los Angeles Kings. That win snapped a six game road losing streak, and was just their second road win in twelve tries. New Jersey has gone a dismal 10-24 in their last 34-games overall, and is just 3-10 in the last thirteen following a win. The five goals versus the Kings was a rare offensive explosion for a team (New Jersey) which is averaging only 2.2 goals per game this season.
Ducks Flying High
The Anaheim Ducks enter tonight’s game having won four of their last five and fifteen of their last twenty games. The Ducks are a well rested team considering this will be the finale of an eight game in twenty-one day home stand. As a matter of fact, Anaheim hasn’t played a road game since the calendar year turned to 2015, and their last away tilt was on December 27th at Arizona. The Ducks have played only one road game in the past twenty-seven days. As a result, they should have a huge advantage tonight in terms of wear and tear against an opponent which is also vastly inferior to boot.
Anaheim is coming off a 4-0 home win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in their previous game. As I’ve already alluded to, the Devils are coming off a 5-3 win over the Kings in their last time out. The combination of these two results creates a very successful money line betting system which in turn uncovers an attractive puck-line value. I’m going to utilize this thought process when making one of my NHL picks for Friday.
Any money line favorite (Ducks), coming off a home win in which they shutout their opponent, versus a team (Devils) coming off a road win, has seen that favorite go 54-15 (78.3%) during the past five seasons. The favorite also held a decisive +1.6 goal per game differential in those sixty-nine contests.
NHL Pick: Play on Anaheim -1.5 (+130) over New Jersey on the puck-line at Bookmaker.
