Our NHL consultant examines the total in Monday’s game between Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks. Apply this superb betting system that supports his selection on the total.
Coyotes invade Chicago
The Chicago Blackhawks return home on Monday for the first time since January 21st when they host the Arizona Coyotes at 8:35 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds, Chicago is a mammoth -295 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5.
There’s not much to cheer about these days for Arizona Coyotes fans. Barring an absolute miracle, their team has no chance of making the playoffs. However, they’ve shown some fight in recent games by going 3-3 in the previous six contests, and have won three of their last four on the road. One of the few bright spots this season has been the power play. The Coyotes have been especially efficient with the man advantage on the road, cashing in on an excellent 26.3% of their power play chances. The Coyotes shoddy defensive play, and inconsistent goaltending, has cost them dearly this season. Arizona is allowing 3.3 goals per game, and #1 goaltender Mike Smith has been erratic for the better part of the year.
Home Sweet Home
The Chicago Blackhawks have played their last seven games on the road, and went a very respectable 4-3 during that time. Most recently they’re coming off wins in each of their previous two games, 4-2 versus the St. Louis Blues on Sunday, and a 2-1 overtime victory at Winnipeg this past Friday.
NHL Betting System
The Arizona Coyotes enter tonight with a dismal .359 winning percentage. Ironically, the previous time they faced the Blackhawks was during Chicago’s last home game on January 21st. Chicago trounced Arizona on that night by a score of 6-1. The Coyotes winning percentage, the result of the last meeting between these two teams, and this game being played in the second half of the season, sets up a favorable betting system on the total. This system was the final kicker for me to make this total as one of my NHL picks on Monday.
Any road team (Arizona) with a total of 5.5 in the second half of the season, playing with same season revenge stemming from a loss by three goals or more, and they have a winning percentage of .300 to .400, has seen 74 of those 116-games (63.8%) go over the total since 1996. As a matter of fact, 48.3% of those 116-games saw seven or more goals scored.
