The Vancouver Canucks can’t really be stopped, can they? They just wrapped up a four-game road trip on the West Coast and went 3-1. Now they’re a big home favorite on the NHL betting lines for Tuesday as they host the Ottawa Senators.
The Ottawa Senators Can Win Because…
The Vancouver Canucks will be playing their first home game in 10 days. Usually, teams are flat in their first game back home after long road trip.
The Sens are struggling these days but it mostly has to do with goaltending. The team is trying to get Robin Lehner playing time because the youngster is supposedly the man of the future. However, he has a whopping 2.96 GAA with a .913 save percentage. The Sens have lost three of his last four starts. But Craig Anderson has been strong as he leads the league with his .951 save percentage. His 1.72 GAA is among the league leaders too. He’s allowed just two goals in his last three outings. If Anderson is in net, the Sens should have a shot to win this game.
The Vancouver Canucks Can Win Because…
The Ottawa Senators are really struggling these days. They started the year with four wins in five games, but that’s become a distant memory. Ottawa has since dropped six of their last night and have not looked good in the process. They are averaging just 2.4 goals per game in their last six.
On the flip side, the Canucks are red hot and shouldn’t have any problems handling a team that’s laboring to score goals. Vancouver has allowed more than two goals in a game just twice in their last nine games. Ryan Miller has been fantastic for the Canucks going 10-2-0 with a 2.42 GAA. He’s won seven straight starts while posting a 1.70 GAA in the process.
This is a matchup of two teams at opposite ends of the spectrum right now, so place your NHL picks on the team that’s hot and bet the Canucks.

Outlook & Pick
This is a tight spot for both teams as Ottawa has to fly across the country for this trip and they’re not particularly strong on the road. At the same time, Vancouver is playing their first home game after a long road trip.
Under looks like the best play in this game as I don’t feel like laying the juice in NHL odds with the Canucks here. They should get the win but it’s a bit high for my liking. Instead, under makes sense as long as Anderson is in net. Anderson is expected to be between the pipes along with Miller as both goalies got the night off in their respective teams latest outings. Since both sides have strong goaltending, that should lead the way to a low scoring affair.
