There’s a full slate of NHL games on tap tonight, and we turn our attention to the tilt between Vancouver/Toronto with a 38-16 betting system, and a free pick on the total.

Hockey Night in Canada
The Maple Leafs will host the Canucks today at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto with the opening face-off scheduled for 7:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at Pinnacle, the Canucks are a -120 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. These teams split in their two meetings a season ago with each winning on home ice. Both of those games stayed under the total.

Recent Goal Scoring Bonanza by both Teams
The Vancouver Canucks enter today having scored 3-goals or more in their last 4, and 7 of the last 8-games. They’re averaging an impressive 3.2 goals per game during a stellar 18-8 money line start to the season. Vancouver has seen just 10 of their first 26-games (38.5%) stay under the total which is well below the league average. The Vancouver Canucks are converting on a superb 30.8% of their power play chances during the last 5-games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been lighting the lamp with a high degree of regularity over the past few weeks. Unfortunately for their sake, they’ve had an extreme amount of difficulty keeping the puck out of their new over that same time span. The Leafs have gone over the total in the last 4, 7 of the last 8, and 11 of their last 13-games. They’ve averaged 3.8 goals per game, and allowed 3.5 goals per outing during their previous 13-contests. Tonight’s scheduled starting goaltender for the Leafs is Jonathan Bernier. He’s seen each of his last 4-starts go over the total, and compiled a subpar .890 save percentage in those games.

NHL Totals System
Toronto is coming off a 5-3 home loss at the hands of the New Jersey Devils in their previous game that was played on Thursday. The Canucks last game was also played on Thursday, and they skated away with a huge 3-0 road win at Pittsburgh. The combination of these two results fits nicely into a very profitable NHL betting totals system to apply when making your NHL picks.

Any team that’s coming off a home loss by 2-goals or more in their previous game, versus an opponent coming off a road win in which they shutout their opponent, has seen 38 of those 54-games (70.4%) go over the total during the past 5-seasons.

Free NHL Pick: Vancouver/Toronto to go over the total of 5.5
