Possible Swan Song for storied Nassau Coliseum
The New York Islanders will host the Washington Capitals in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal playoff series on Saturday at 3:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at Bookmaker, the Islanders are a -130 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.0. The Capitals lead the series 3-2 following a decisive 5-1 win at home in Game 5.

Seizing back control of the Series
After falling behind in the series 2-1, Washington has stormed back to win the last two games, and are one win away from advancing to the conference semifinals. One of the key components to the Capitals recent success in this series has been the play of goaltender Braden Holtby. Despite making an enormous 76 starts already this season, Holtby is showing no signs of wearing down. He’s compiled a terrific .961 save percentage in Games 3, 4, and 5 of this series. The Capitals have done a terrific job of penalty killing during the first five games of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, by not allowing the Islanders to register a power play goal on all twelve of their man advantage opportunities.

Islanders let Capitals off the Hook
If the Islanders fall short in this series, I’m sure they’ll look back to Game 4 at home when they had a 2-1 series lead, and lost a heartbreaker in overtime. There’s a huge difference between a 3-1 series lead, and one that’s deadlocked 2-2 with a Game 5 on the road coming up next. However, there’s no excuse for their dismal performance in their blowout loss at Washington on Thursday.

Possible Swan Song for storied Nassau Coliseum
One of the more intriguing emotional factors pertaining to this game favors the Islanders. This can possibly be the last ever NHL game played at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island. It’s been the only home for the Islanders since the inception of the franchise. They will move their home games to the Barclay Center in Brooklyn starting next season. The Islanders surely will be desperate to avoid elimination from the playoffs in the final game being played at this historic building, which has housed all four Stanley Cups won in franchise history.

Final Analysis
I predicted this series to go the full seven games before the playoffs began, and I’m sticking to my guns in that regard when making my NHL picks for Saturday.

NBA Pick: Islanders -130 on the money line over the Capitals at Bookmaker.
