We look into Wednesday's late night battle between the Minnesota Wild and the Anaheim Ducks. How have we decided to take on the evening's last game with our NHL picks?

I think a lot of people would be surprised to know that only six points separate the Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild in the standings. That’s more of a testament to how unexpectedly good Minnesota has been as the Ducks 47 points is tied for the lead in the NHL.

Check out our NHL Picks: Wednesday's Hockey Betting Guide

The Minnesota Wild can win because…

Goaltender Josh Harding can carry them to a win. NHL betting experts have noticed that Harding has been one of the best goaltenders in the league this season. He has a 16-4-3 record with a sparkling 1.50 GAA and .938 save percentage. That puts him first in the league in GAA, tied for second with save percentage and tied for second in wins.

As long as he’s between the pipes, the Wild will always have a shot to win.

The Anaheim Ducks can win because…

The Wild don’t play well on the road and the Ducks are an excellent home team. That’s really all this boils down to. When you look at the Wild, they are untouchable at the Xcel Center with a record of 13-3-2. However, on the road they are just 5-6-3. They’ve lost three straight on the road, including a 4-0 shutout loss in Columbus who were starting a backup goalie.

Meanwhile, the Ducks are the only team in the NHL that has yet to lose in regulation at home (11-0-2). The Wild have a steep hill to climb to overcome the NHL odds on Wednesday.

Outlook & Pick

The line for this game opened at about -150 for Anaheim and that’s a fair price. Both of these teams are pretty good but the home-away splits really give you only one option for your NHL picks on the side. That being the case, I’ll lay the juice with the Ducks.
