Oilers out to end Canucks Domination
The Oilers will host the Canucks on Wednesday at Rexall Place in Edmonton with a scheduled start time of 8:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at Pinnacle, the Canucks are a -135 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. This will be the 4th meeting of the season between these Pacific Division rivals, and the Canucks have won each of the first 3, and that includes 2 of those coming in Edmonton. These clubs have also seen 5 of 6-games played in Edmonton stay under the total during the past 3-seasons.

Early Surprise in the West
After failing to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs a season ago, expectations were skeptical at best for the Canucks heading into the 2014-2015 NHL campaign. Well they’ve at least temporarily put the skepticism to rest, getting off to an impressive 12-6 start to the season. The Canucks have been an extremely profitable 7-3 on the road against the money line. On a negative note, they’re coming off a 5-0 embarrassing home loss to the Arizona Coyotes, in a game in which they were a mammoth -220 money line favorite. The good news for the Canucks, they’ve gone 4-1 following a loss this season.

It’s the “Same Old Same Old” in Edmonton
The Edmonton Oilers always seem to have a very good nucleus of young talent, and former highly touted first round draft choices, but it just doesn’t translate to success. Once again they’re off to a miserable 6-12 start to the season, including going a pathetic 0-7 within their own division. Making matters even worse, they enter tonight’s game having lost 3 in a row, and 7 of their last 9-games. Tonight will be the 3rd of a 5-game in 10-day home stand for the Oilers. They’ve gone just 4-6 at Rexall Place this year, and have seen 7 of those 10-games stay under the total. As a matter of fact, the Oilers have seen just 2 of their previous 10-games go over the total.

Final Analysis
As I alluded to earlier, the Canucks have beaten the Oilers in all 3 meetings this season. Edmonton is coming off a 2-1 home loss to their division rival the Arizona Coyotes. The combination of these factors creates a terrific money line betting system, and that will be an integral part of my thought process when making my NHL picks on this game.

Any road money line favorite, versus a team that’s playing with same season triple revenge, and is coming off a home loss to a division opponent, has gone 60-19 (75.9%) since 1996.
