The Flames host the Bruins on Tuesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The NHL odds are out; find who we're going to be backing!

According to NHL betting odds the Bruins are a -145 money line road favorite and the posted total is 5.5. The home team has won 5 of the last 6 meetings between these teams. Boston has defeated Calgary in 4 of the last 5 head-to-head clashes.

Big Bad Bruins

The Bruins just continue to roll forward like a runaway freight train, as they’ve won 12 of their last 16-games. In their previous game they were a decisive 5-2 winner at Toronto. Backup goaltender Chad Johnson was between the pipes in the win over the Leafs, and stopped 30 of 32 shots on goal. Johnson improved to 5-1 on the season with an excellent 1.98 GAA and .922 save percentage. Boston continues to be the best in the NHL allowing just 2.0 goals per game. This will be the Bruins 2nd of a 4-game in 7-day road trip. This will also be there 3rd in the last 4, and 4th game in the last 6-days. Boston has gone under the total in just 8 of their last 35 when playing their 3rd game in 4-days. They’ve been an extremely profitable 30-10 in their last 40 following a game in which it scored 5 or more goals. Calgary will be out to avenge an embarrassing 9-0 loss at Boston on December 10th.

Break up the Flames

Don’t look now but the Calgary Flames have won 3 of their last 4-games. That’s great news for Flames fans considering that prior to this recent stretch, they hadn’t seen their team win 2-games in a row since October 11th.  In their last time out they came away with a 2-1 overtime win at Edmonton on Saturday night. Calgary showed some resiliency in the win, after allowing the Oilers to tie the game with just 0:11 to go in the 3rd period. Jiri Hudler scored the game winner at 3:14 of the overtime session. Reto Berra was stellar in goal in stopping 30 of 31 shots. Berra is scheduled to get the nod again this evening. Following tonight the Flames will host Carolina on Wednesday before embarking on a grueling 5-game in 8-day road trip to the east coast.

Final Analysis

The only team that will beat the Bruins tonight will be the Bruins themselves. Boston has vastly superior scoring depth and defensive prowess compared to tonight’s opponent. Calgary is a dismal 0-6 in their last 6 home games versus an opponent with a winning record. My lean here, for my NHL pick, goes to the road favorite.
